Any kind of underwear would probably have been mortifying, but I assume this was whatever served as a “supporter” in those days? Extra mortifying.
(I remember some years back, shopping in the women’s lingerie section somewhere, when a grandma walked in to shop for bras with her two young – like, 8 and 6 – grandsons. The 8 said to the six “just look at the floor the whole time and you won’t be too embarrassed”)Report
