  1. I recently finished two great books.

Men without Women by Haruki Murakami is a short story collection. I forgot about what an absolute delight it was to read Murakami.

The other book was White Tears by Hari Kunzru. The book is about two white Hipsters right out of college. One is a schmuck with inordinately good hearing. The other is trust fund kid always searching for authenticity. They run a music studio dedicated to producing in analog with some reputation. The schmuck kid likes to go around NYC making recordings. One day he discovers he records an entire song. The trust funder invents a made-up blues musician and releases the song on the net. That’s when things get freaky and someone tells them that their made-up blues musician is real and their contact first heard the song in 1959.Report

  2. US plays Mexico tonight in soccer tonight at 830pm eastern in case anyone is interested.

The Stanley cup resumes at 800pm as well. The preds are against the wall.Report

    1. Given their record at Azteca and the weakness of this incarnation of Team USA, I’m hoping to get out without embarrassment. Stealing a point tonight would be an absolute dream.Report

    2. Pens/Preds should be good. Odds are that the Preds win tonight but the Penguins might just tap into the road-game magic which got’em the last two Cups. Go Pens!Report

      1. Also, I gotta give a shout out to Rafa Nadal for winning his 10th French Open. A remarkable feat by an incredible athlete and competitor. (For a hockey analogy, he’s the Peter Forsberg of tennis.)Report
