Saturday!
About two and a half years ago, I was introduced to One Night Ultimate Werewolf and I absolutely fell in love.
It was *SOOOOO* much fun! It was a bluffing/lying game, it was a community game, it was a “guys, it’s time to talk about game theory” game. Each game was good with 7-8 people, each game took about 10 minutes. It was a blast! After playing one game, you wanted to play another. And then another. Everyone laughed and pointed and while, I suppose, you could *TECHNICALLY* keep score, nobody did. They were having too much fun.
So I thought that this would be a good game for a “hey, we’ve got a bunch of strangers” game night and, I went to my game store, and they were out of it *BUT* they had One Night Ultimate Vampire. THE SEQUEL.
And, lemme tell ya, this is not a game for people who haven’t played One Night Ultimate Werewolf. This is a game for people who have played One Night Ultimate Werewolf so much that everybody looks up and looks around and can guess who the other people are based on nothing more than how they’re holding their faces. “Wally is the werewolf. He’s doing that thing with his nose.”
One Night Ultimate Vampire takes the role cards and adds “marks”. So, in addition to roles being swapped around, marks are being swapped around. The addition of these marks add confusion and frustration if you only vaguely remember playing One Night Ultimate Werewolf two and a half years ago.
So while I still wholeheartedly recommend Werewolf, I can only say that Vampire is a game for people who have played Werewolf to the point where they’ve played it out (but wish that they could play it as if it were the first time).
So… what are you playing?
