“Hello…It’s Me.”
Afternoon all, just a quick introductory post to say hello! I’ve written a few guest posts recently and am honored to have been accepted as a regular contributor.
A little about me: I was born and raised in London with a view of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament from my bedroom window (small, but noticeable). Part of me wonders if this sparked my early fascination with politics, since neither of my parents were all that interested. Whatever it was, I went on to study the subject as an undergrad at King’s College London, where I would meet my now-husband and the reason for my relocation across the pond. While we are primarily based in Washington DC these days with our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, I’m thankful that my work as a freelance writer and journalist allows me to travel frequently.
Writing may now be my career but it’s also my passion and I will happily indulge in this with a wide range of topics, from feminism to human rights, the environment to technology. My real interest lays in the intersection of politics and culture, so you will likely find much of my writing centered around this topic, but not always. I also blog in my free time at Only Slightly Biased as well as a number of other online publications.
I’m looking forward to contributing more frequently and getting to know some of you!
Welcome aboard Holly! Glad to have you contributing.
And if you still need to cross the great state of Kentucky off your travel list, please let me know and I will be happy to suggest an itinerary.Report
Thanks Mike, I haven’t ventured that way yet so I will definitely be taking you up on that offer as soon as I do!Report

Welcome! I’ve always wanted to be based, rather than live, somewhere. Sounds very posh.Report
Some months I travel so much that I’m not sure “live” is the appropriate word! But it’s always somewhere to come back to and where my books are housed so it works.Report
Welcome! Looking forward to reading more of your stuff.Report
Cheers!Report
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!Report
Welcome! Just check in with Olaf in HR and pick up your name tag and avoid the bathroom on the third floor- the plumber’s coming next week.Report
Now that we have an authentic Brit on board, can somebody please get with providing bowlers?
The dirigible is terrific of course, but bowlers would be smashing.Report
I did a show last month that gave out gift bags in the green room, and one of the things in mine was a coupon for a hat of my choice at Goorin Bros. Am very seriously considering using it to get a bowler.Report
My fedora is showing it’s age and I an considering if a bowler would push my “he is a quirky, creative type” thing beyond its boundary to “don’t make eye contact “.Report
If there are also monocle’s involved, sign me up!Report
