Weekend!
REM Rebound is, apparently, a thing. I don’t know if I had experienced it last night or what but, as I was falling asleep, I found myself doing something very strange:
“I’m lying in bed in Colorado Springs, falling asleep… wait, I’m in a boat in Lake Michigan. WHAM. No, I’m lying in bed in Colorado Springs, falling asleep… wait, I’m in a park outside of New York City, playing chess. WHAM. No, I’m lying in bed in Colorado Springs, falling asleep….”
The dreaming came so quickly and so vividly that I found myself waking myself up in order to reassert the reality of my situation. No, I’m not trying to find a storefront in Florida to hide under as a rainstorm passes. I’m lying in bed in Colorado Springs.
The good news is that I haven’t even *CONSIDERED* a nap today. I can’t remember the last time I didn’t think that a nap wouldn’t improve the day somewhat.
With that in mind, I’m really looking forward to the weekend and the opportunity to use a CPAP all night without being dragged awake by an alarm clock.
With all of the extra energy I’m expecting, I’m going to look forward to running errands, doing chores, and maybe even squeezing some goofing off into the weekend that won’t require a nap to mortar the bricks together.
So… what’s on your docket?

Tomorrow I am going to go shopping for a suit for the company holiday party. It is cocktail attire, tie optional. I know nothing about suits, so any advice from the more fashionable among you would be appreciated.
Other than that, no real specific plans beyond the usual laundry, housework, and grocery shopping.Report
I hear polyesther plaid suits in bright colors are in style these days.Report

Fava beans are up 5″ strong and need water. Have a dozen jalapenos to harvest. The dill is outgrowing the kale. Planted moringa tree seeds last weekend, doubt they will germinate with the cold front over us. Planting rye this saturday. Saturday night will enjoy a sweet potatoe dish from this years harvest.
Sunday will complete installing the door to the wifes laundry/shed that we built over the summer. The door is a pass-through between the house and the shed.Report

I figure a few well meaning statists will be by this spring to regulate something or another.
Kidding aside, fava are one of the few nitrogen fixing plants that grow through the winter. Their leaves are edible, and I will find out this weekend how they taste.Report
It’s really nice to see even the beginnings of Jay sleeping better.
I’m planning on a chore-filled weekend, but I think they will be the kind of chores that you can actually see the difference after you do them.
And I’m looking forward to gaming on Saturday.Report
Last night we had dinner out for the youngest daughter’s birthday (16!) This morning I spent a frigid few hours in the deer stand. 15 degrees at sunrise…yikes. The deer were smarter than me and stayed in bed. UFC 180 tonight. Not a great card but I enjoy the company.
Tomorrow we are getting together with my sister to make a bunch of freezer meals. Necessary in our house because my wife doesn’t cook and she is going to starve to death on my next business trip.
Two more big days at work next week and then I’m out for 27 days on a combination of vacation and travel for work. Should be interesting.Report
