Weekend Plans Post: Sick. Sick, sick, sick.
I have the house to myself. I can cook whatever I want including the stuff that activates Maribou’s allergies. I can cook with black pepper and onions and garlic.
So, of course, my sinuses wake me up at 2AM saying “GET UP GET UP GET UP!”
So I wake up and ask “WHAT WHAT WHAT” and they tell me “blow your nose, also, here’s a splitting headache”.
Personally, I think that this could have waited until 6:30.
Then I remembered how all of my friends who got the covid told me “Yeah, I woke up with a splitting headache” and I thought “Man… I guess it’s my turn.”
Huh. Then I have no idea. Maybe I’m just… sick?
We used to get sick, I remember. I guess that that’s coming back.
The stuff I was going to do yesterday? Well, it’s been rescheduled. The stuff I was going to do today? Rescheduled.
Maybe tomorrow.
So… what’s on your docket?

Allergies? Do you have any pollen allergies? This has been the worst spring here that I remember for them.
(also I am not your mom but you should probably re test in another day or two; I know several people who got the ‘rona but didn’t pop a positive result until 3-4 days in to symptoms).
Drink lots of fluids. Eat chicken soup.
I don’t know what’s on my docket. The end of the semester is hurtling towards me fast but at the same time my allergies are absolutely hellacious but I also need to at least knock back the weeds in my yard with the string trimmer. I know what I would LIKE to do but I suspect I won’t get that until early May.Report
Yeah, allergies. It rained earlier and I immediately felt better.
Fluids, fluids, and more fluids is the plan.Report
I too have been woken in the middle of the night by allergies. I have found that mostly, a Zyrtec before bedtime mitigates this … mostly.
We are in peak allergy season. It’s worst for me something like 36 hours after a rain. This is California, and we will soon be in the season where there is no rain for 6 months. But we’ve had a lot of rain this year so far, and the breaks tend to result in interrupted sleep. Bleh. Good luck!Report
Oh yeah, it’s allergy season. Was having a beer with a friend last weekend and we looked outside and saw a gust of wind blow through a cottonwood tree. It was immediately surrounded by a poof of yellow haze.
“Did you see that?” I said. “All that pollen!”
“EWWWW A CLOUD OF TREE SPERM!!!” she cried.
I really haven’t been the same since.Report
dude, you got spooged on by a tree
(Beavis and Butthead laughter)Report
It freakin’ snowed today.
And I freakin’ went out in it.
And my sinuses were open and I was breathing easy. No symptoms of being sick whatsoever.
Yeah. It’s allergies.Report
Waiting to see if someone has any counter arguments to my texts about how what passes for ‘artificial intelligence’ is a really poor illusion.Report
I wrote a post about that!
The Mass Effect games made distinctions between “Artificial Intelligence” (Bad, Illegal) and “Virtual Intelligence” (Good, Useful!) and it seems like a good enough distinction for what we have now.
We’ve got Virtual Intelligences, not Artificial ones.
That said, we’re on the road to having a real Artificial Intelligence. Maybe not this year and maybe not next year but before 2030.Report
