Golden State Killer Suspect Arrested
Nearly 40 years is a long time to wait for justice, but for the victims of crimes attributed to the Golden State Killer that day may have come.

A decades-long search for the “Golden State Killer” — who police say committed 12 murders, 45 rapes, and 120 home burglaries during a reign of terror back in the 1970s and 1980s — may be finally over.
A 72-year-old ex-police officer named Joseph James DeAngelo, who appears to fit the description of the elusive California killer, was arrested overnight on two murder charges by police in Sacramento, law enforcement sources told NBC News on Wednesday.
DeAngelo was being held without bail in the Sacramento County Main Jail, according to records. The Sacramento district attorney and sheriff had a press conference scheduled for 12 p.m. PT (3 p.m. ET) to discuss the case.
Also called the East Area Rapist, the mystery maniac was blamed for a battery of crimes in the county starting in the late 1970s and ending in 1981.
SF Gate has a thorough outline of the crimes going back to the 70’s. It is grotesquely long, as the Golden State Killer is suspected in at least 12 murders and 45 rapes. Hopefully, justice can finally bring a close to this dark saga.

This is amazing. Among true crime aficionados this is akin to catching the Zodiac. This was the “original night stalker”, before Ramirez. What’s fascinating is the fact that he stopped, which is not in line with what we think we know about serial killers. Yeah – this story reminds me of the BTK Killer. You wouldn’t expect these guys to find another hobby. According to the old way of thinking, if serial killings stop, it’s got to be because the killer was jailed on some other charge.Report

Watch the staged self-serving press conferences of law enforcement in which their indefatigable dedication to finding the suspect is promoted, praised, and propagandized.
40+ Years does not represent any measure of success or Justice.
It is abject failure. And until the police are scrutinized by outside citizen run inquiries no good explanation from this killer’s former colleagues will suffice.
