Mistrial Declared in Backpage Case
I have suspected from the beginning that the Backpage trial was more political theater than legal proceeding. Nothing I have seen this week had dissuaded me from that opinion.

The Florida Story Teetering on the Edge
The Florida raids are becoming a textbook cases for how police and prosecutors overstate the problem of sex trafficking in this country. But even if further investigation does show that some of these women were being coerced, that only makes the case for decriminalization even stronger.
EFF vs. FOSTA
Moral panics can crash quickly. Or they can last centuries, as the moral panic over witchcraft did. I have no feel for how long the moral panic over sex work will last. But now that FOSTA is law, the potential damage it will cause has dramatically increased.
