On “Babylonia!

@james-k

I agree that he was seeing his reflection, but I read more into it for the view of the writers and producer who made the scene.

"

And the good episodes keep rolling on. Very nice review too.

My favorite scene in this one is Londo looking out the window at the mass drivers destroying Narn. There is one point were they show the destruction from Londo's 'eye view' and it has his image over shadowing the Narn home orld's destruction. I love that visual representation of Londo being critical to the series of events that have lead to this point, like he was the mastermind behind all of this.

The 24th would be fine if we done it in the evening. I should be back in town by then.

"

Just remembered that I will be out of town that weekend. I would need a new time for it as well.

"

I am always looking for contributors....

"

I am in and looking forward to it. If people were okay with it last year, I will continue the Week in Review.

On “Babylonia!

Yes, that part of the storyline was dropped. I always wondered where they were going with it. It could have been the same place they went with Lyta since ure zbqvsvpngvba ol gur Ibeybaf pbhyq unir= gur fnzr nssrpg, fgbelyvar jvfr, nf univat Vebaurneg zbqvslvat Gnyvn.

"

How under the radar could she possibly be with blowing Control's cover?

Also, the B5 crew has shown that they will break the rules when they need to and this could have been one of those rules to break.

"

When I first saw this episode, I had no lesbian vibe from it. But after listening to other people talk about that, I watch it now and can see that point of view.

I like this episode a lot. It shows, again, just how scary the Psicorps can be and give you another look at the threat there. I always thought it was surprising no one tried to keep Lyta on the station. You just had a psychic mole, you would think the B5 team would think about keeping some defense around. Even if it was a 5 second scene having Lyta say, "No thanks."

Some of these show my age and reading habits as a kid, but....

Mo Willems - This is the only new one of the bunch. My son loves the Pigeon books and I think they are very clever too.
Edgar Rice Burroughs - I grew up reading John Carter and Tarzan. Still remember bits of them. Most likely they have not aged well.
Franklin W. Dixon - Though this would be tough since many people wrote under this name. So, maybe Edward Stratemeyer. I read so many of these. Probably have not aged well either and I here they rewrote some to be more PC. I read the ones that were not.
Theodor Geisel: Uninspired, but how can he not be here?

On “Babylonia!

"The Minbari and the Vorlon seem to have a vaguely established relationship… or am I reading too much into how maybe it’s just DeLenn who has a better-than-average relationship with Kosh?"

I always figured it was the other way around, Kosh having a better than average relationship with Delenn. I think Kosh is the exception. Think back to Jack. Does that seem like a nice, relationship friendly set of beings named, Vorlons?

"

The thing is, they are going slow this time, so why now use that time for spying? Wouldn't that also let them increase in power by knowing what the enemy is doing?

"

Agreed. They could be spying all over the station, but they just camp out with Morden. And if I was Sheridan I would remember the visual frequency he used to see them.

"

Another great episode. Vir has one of his best moments. I love that speech. I also like how we finally find out the details behind the Shadows and why the Vorlons seems so far ahead of every other race. We also receive a blunt instrument to head about the darkness growing on Earth. I also like how easy it is for good people (Zack) to fall into it. Will it come back to bite him???

"Now, if I was the Shadows, that kind of a turnaround would make me more suspicious that someone knew something."

I would not be surprised if they are a little more suspicious, but they could also think that Sheridan was found out and his superiors told him to let Morden go or you will be relieved of command and then Morden will be let go. It does not seem like the hidden shadows do much spying, so they did not see the reason why Morden was let go.

On “Babylonia!

I love this episode. You get an interesting view of what is happening back on Earth and it creeps you out a bit. Then you see how easy it is for a war to spill over. Just as Sheridan has disarmed the situation the Narn throw everything out and both side lose. It was very good.

Very glad this is up and running. These are some of the best episodes in the entire B5 run.

On “A Chicken Playing Baseball

Still would earn 1 mil+ in the big leagues.

On “Babylonia!

That was for the label, I am sure.

James, I agree. There is no 'good' race in B5 which is a very nice change from Star Trek too. It is at this point where we see this more and more.

"

I think the best thing about this episode is that we start to see a darker side to the Minbari. You knew from the war it was there. but this goes beyond anger. How we see that there is a strong belief in purity of the race.

On “Weekend!

Gaming this weekend. Going back to Vornhiem and my drunken were-lion bard.

On “Babylonia!

The Lumati plot was dumb. Thankfully it is a throwaway. I cannot hate Londo, I see a guy that feels he has no choice to do something else because it would have meant the end of his people. And once the boulder started rolling down the hill, he could not stop it, just make very minor corrections. You can say he was an idiot for getting that boulder started, but not hate him.

"

These are the episodes that sold me on the series and made this my all time favorite sci0fi show. I love the change happening to Londo and G'Kar. They are slowly changing places from where they started. Though Londo is being portrayed in a reluctant light and looks to be building towards tragedy.

I thought the Delenn moment was great too, since it show that the writers of the show paid attention to the prior shows. Too many TV series forget what they have done between episodes. Another thumbs up from me.

On “The Medal Count

I always thought there should be greater weight to the medals where there is more to do than just one of two runs. Take hockey, they play a bunch of games, just to get one set of medals. That seems to have more weight to the medal than the down hill skier that went down the hill a couple of times or sliding across ice nicely (can you guess my bias?)

"

I have seen the medal count given both ways. I am not sure which is better, but it is nice to see both

"

The issue is coming up with the 'weight' each medal should be worth. Why 5/3/1? Why not 3/2/1, 10/5/1, etc?

By assigning an arbitrary weight, you make this ranking as subjective as the female ice skating scores and look how well that turned out yesterday. I think there are just two ways to look at it.

1) overall medal count
2) total gold medal count (because, as mentioned, this is the only medal the athletes are shooting for)

On “Awesome!

I thought this was a great movie. Definitely one of me top animated movies (with Toy Story and Monsters Inc.). I went with my five year old son. He thought the first part of the movie was good, but did not like the father/son stuff and started to ask when the movie was going to be over. Probably just a little too young for that.
