An ex of mine used to work at a city center hospital on the east coast (well known). The hospital also had a large number of foeign patients. Her department made a list of funny names. The list included names of poorly english tranlated names and crazy ass named children from americans. I'll always rememember a few: "Onaphoni Phonacasoni" (that's my phonetic spelling-this guy was foreign) and "Tugboat Steamboat".
I one of those people ND. It's about choice. The fact that "others" via "democracy" have decided that I should be required to take an action I may not wish to take, or face fines/imprisonment for an actions that have zero spillover to others in society, offends me. The reason always given is "we all pay for the hospitalization". No one ever thinks to just not pay for the hospitalization. I'd submit that would actually get more folks in seat belts than tickets.
Tis better to be awoken by a furball than an beeping alarm any day. Even if that alarm goes off at 1AM, 4AM, and 5AM. The soothing power of a purring feline is quite compelling and relaxing.
That being said, the little minx always wakes me up out of REM sleep.
I'm going hiking this weekend, cleaning the house, and hopefully, arranging a hot date.
How many times have you heard about the poor being called "trash"? "The cops need to raid that drug house and clean out that trash". When a society devalues some groups so much, this is what happens. That being said, the purpose of power is it's exercize. You really think politicians care about "the scum"? Only when it's voting time.
The war on drugs is a major player in this develop and we'd all be a lot better off if it was ended.
I'd agree that some security would be usefull at the airports, but really, the TSA is useless.
I've know people that have accidently gone though security with ammuntion in the carry on bags and it was missed. Weapons are routinely missed during testing of screeners when they are given ADVANCE warning there will be tests. I know of bags put on flights and the passengers not on board. Security? don't make me laugh.
We'd all benefit if the TSA just would go away. I'll take the risk of some radical trying to blow the plane if they be eleminated. But not...must have security theatre for the rubes.
I flew from Atlanta to J-burg (18+ hr flight IIRC) in "Economy". It cost me about 1,600 USD. An acquantaince used miles and flew in First Class. The USD price was @ 16K. She had all those amenities and an almost horizontal reclinging seat, while I sat in the back and deat with some bozo's kid kicking my seat back for 4 hours. Would I like to have been in FC? Hell yes. Was I prepared to pay cash for the difference? Nope.
Back in the late 80's it cost me 3K per person to fly from the US West coat to Florida-in economy. You know, I think I'll accept that trade off.
I would like bigger seats and better pitch, and I'm prepared to pay for it, at least on the margins.
Even if it doesn't create criminals, it pisses people off. Scenario: So office doughnut stops someone, frisks them, maybe pushes them up against a well, smack talks 'em, and generally, is discourteous to his employer. Think they'll give a damn when he's behind the 8 ball? Think they'll believe him when they are called for jury duty? Think he'll get the benefit of the doubt on any "mistakes" he makes? Think they will vote for increased taxes for him to continue to harrass them on the street? Nope. And even if they know he's in the right, or it's just a mistake, now's the chance to get even, and they'll take it. And that's not even taking race into consideration.
Meh,
Don't see why you're dumping on Pensacola. Unjustified shootings like this take place all over the country and cops routinely kill animals (even those posting no threat).
Paul Rampell's theory relies on the basis of gov't still being in the mix sanctioning these arrangements. It'd be better if they were reomoved in toto from them.
Profiling works both ways. Lot's of cops profile white guys driving around minority areas as potential drug buyers. There's no way I wouldn't raise an eyebrow if I drove a Mercedes into downtown Baltimore in certain areas. Odds are I'd be cruising for hookers, drugs, or both. Either way, I'd stick out like a sore thumb.

And roasted and salted pumkin seeds. Papitas in spanish if i got that right. Moms sent those to me from south of the border once. outstanding.

The Centrist Movement platform sounds like a righest Democrat platform. With real dems to vote for, who'd vote for this BS?
We have two parties-they both advocate for a society structure with very few differences between them. Why should I bother to get invested?

I will say that salted nuts-almonds or mixed nut or peanuts are also very good.
