I am nearly finished with Wild Cards vol. 1. I am not sure what I will move onto next. Probably the next Wheel of Time book, but I am not certain.

I am also making my way through Preacher. I have to say, I am at a different place emotionally and philosophically than I was when I first read it, and so far, it is not holding up.

I finished up The Wire over the weekend, as well. That last season was like one slow train wreck. Every episode seemed to be calculated to make me angry at the characters.

With that done, I decided to give Blake's 7 a shot. It was a show I have heard was good, but I do not know a whole lot about it.

@jm3z-aitch I believe the argument would be that the employer and an employee have a mutual arrangement. If the terms of that arrangement are no longer agreeable, either party is free to terminate that agreement. Therefore, that is not coercion.

"

@kolohe

That's because the conservative folks at Fox news are still a bunch of statists.

What about Cabbage Patch Kids? Would those be considered trivializing adoption? Is it possible having adopted dolls could actually be beneficial, by portraying adoption in a positive light and normalizing it?

And thinking more about the Elf on the Shelf, I think it could be a fun game with young children, but perhaps best if the kids are in on it.

I would put anything related to Jackass out there. People doing stupid crap to hurt themselves and one another is not impressive. Evil Knievil jumping school busses is impressive. Crashing a motorized scooter into a school bus is the opposite of that.

Sometimes intellectuals tend to over analyze things.

Isn't that the whole point of our comment section here?

I finished up Season 4 of The Wire over the weekend. That season ended with gut punch after gut punch, even more than previous seasons, I think. Only 10 episodes left in the series. I look forward to finishing the series, because I expect it to be really good, but I do not look forward to not having any more to watch.

As far as reading, I started on the first Wild Cards anthology, edited by George RR Martin. It is a sci-fi/superhero series. Post WW2, an alien virus is released that mutates people. Some people benefit, some become freaks, and some are killed. I have not gotten far enough into it to have a strong opinion, but so far, so good.

Digger! I read that when it was being published as a webcomic. It was one of my favorites.

Quite a list of games, since I took last week off of work.

I am slowly making my way through Darksiders. Only slow because I usually only play when I have a couple of hours to spend on it, giving me plenty of time to finish a dungeon.

Taking advantage of some sales and trade-ins at Gamestop, I got WWE 13 and Disgaea 4. So far, I have enjoyed both, for entirely different reasons. WWE 13 is enjoyable, because it lets you play through significant matches from the Attitude Era. However, this historical matches are usually accompanied by specific objectives that make them more difficult than a regular match.

Disgaea 4 is all about abusing the system to make overpowered characters. I do not dig into the nuts and bolts as much as some hardcore players, but I still enjoy it.

Part of the original plan for Delenn was to dub her season 1 dialog with a male voice, so that her transition would include changing from man to woman. That plan was scrapped, which is probably for the best.

Peter Jurasik is not the only good actor in the series. Andreas Katsulas does a great job as G'Kar, despite the facial prosthetics.

This was my introduction to Andrew Bird. It made enough of an impression on my to get me to look for his other work.

Would I like Walmart to pay better? Sure, it’d be nice. But if it meant that people who need cheap products would have less access to them? Not so nice.

Not only that, but there is also the concern that if Walmart paid more, they would attract higher skilled applicants, enabling them to be more selective. The lower quality employee that gets the low wage job might have a more difficult time finding employment as a result.

We are going to the lake with my family this weekend. There will be fishing. Possibly some board games.

We do not get BBC America there, so no Doctor Who special until we get back.

I am with you, Jaybird. I like brownies. I like nuts. I do not like nuts in my brownies.

On “Babylonia!

We get a new voiceover with every season. The content always changes somewhat to reflect what is going on.

Also, I have to be "that guy"--it is Minbari, not Mimbari.

I remember when I first saw this episode, I spent a long time trying to figure out what Sinclair was gone. There was nothing in the previous season to foreshadow it. Everything was very vague. All JMS said was that it was a mutual decision and done for creative reasons. That always struck me as false, because he very clearly had important things involving Sinclair. It was not until earlier this year that JMS revealed the reason. O'Hare was struggling with mental illness (paranoia and delusions), and he could not hold it together to continue with the show. JMS promised not to reveal the reason until after O'Hare passed, which occurred at the end of 2012.

So why do these same folks never think that men who engage in cunnilingus are being dominated?

I remember an entire Soprano's episode where Tony was worried about seeming like less of a man because it got out that he went down on his wife. It seems like that must be an issue in some circles.

I am about halfway through season 3 of The Wire.

For reading, I am ~2/3 of the way through Book 5 of The Wheel of Time. I am also on Book 10 of Lucifer, so I will wrapping that up shortly.

Not too much gaming this weekend. I picked up a Humble Bundle last week that included Scribblenauts Unlimited, and I have been having fun with that. Nothing beats pitting mythological creatures against one another, especially when modified with adjectives such as lazy, vegetarian, or cute.

On “Weekend!

Not too much planned for this week. Tomorrow I am going to stay with my grandma for a few hours so that my parents can take my great aunt out to lunch for her birthday.

I may drain my aquariums and take the fish to the fish store, since they will not be moving with me. I need to do it sooner or later, but I am not looking forward to it for a variety of reasons.

Other than that, I have no fixed plans.

I had long hair throughout most of high school (even when I was in 4H and showing pigs at the county fair). I cut my hair during my junior year, after breaking up with the girl I had been dating since my freshman year. It was part of my attempts to find my own identity. My breakups tend to lead to a period of personal assessment and improvement.

I am in my early 30s now, and I work as a chemist. In theory, I could probably get away with growing my hair back out. In practice, I think it would be a hindrance to my career opportunities. Maybe in a decade or so, I will be the crazy genius who can do whatever he wants, but that is not my position right now.

On “Whose White?

As a southerner, that was my thought as well. I do not know if it still hold true, but I know southerners used to register mostly as democrats, but they would vote republican, due to the parties' shifts in policy over the year.

I am enjoying it. Initially, I was a bit curious why they were going somewhere completely different at the beginning, but as it moves forward, it all connects back to the events from the first season. And I will not lie, getting an idea of how things work on a port is pretty interesting. It is one of those things that I had a vague awareness of, but this gives a better picture than I had before.

"

I got through most of Season 2 of The Wire.

I am still reading through Book 4 of The Wheel of Time, and I have also gotten most of the way through Mike Carey's Lucifer. I may finish the latter this week. I remembered it being a good series, but I think it is actually better than I remembered.

>I would be very worried about a new player with that power. Particularly when you have now clue why they are helping you.

I would be especially worried if I owed them a favor.
