The Jack Smith ReportFrom The Washington Post:
The case: Special counsel Jack Smith asked the judge to dismiss the federal election interference charges against President-elect Donald Trump, putting an end to a lengthy investigation that never made it to trial.
The report: The Justice Department released Smith’s report, in which Smith said if Trump hadn’t won the presidential election in November, the Justice Department would have had ample evidence to convict him at trial. Read the full report.
The 2020 election: Trump is planning to assemble investigative teams within the Justice Department to hunt for evidence in battleground states that fraud tainted the 2020 election, according to an individual close to Trump’s transition. Trump also plans to fire the entire team that worked with Smith, two individuals close to Trump’s transition said.
The charges: Trump pleaded not guilty to charges that he plotted to overturn the 2020 election in the run-up to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Here’s a breakdown of the charges that were filed against him and what they mean.
Much like the House January 6th Report, people of conscience will be appalled at the evidence presented. Also like the Impeachment after the auto-coup, nothing comes of this because the institutionalists like AG Garland had and still have no coherent sense of urgency, nor did they effectively plan to counter Trump’s long-standing delay, deflect, appeal strategy. He ran for president to avoid this prosecution and won.
