Saturday Morning Gaming: Terra Nil has been Fully Released
Way back in June, 2021, I talked about playing the demo for Terra Nil. It *FINALLY* got released just this last Thursday. Holy cow. It’s awesome. Get it.
It’s a member of the “builder” genre except it’s a complete reversal. It’s a debuilder.
Start with a desiccated wasteland…
Put up some windmill generators for power…
Add some water sources to help the cleansing process…
And turn this wasteland into a vibrant ecosystem again.
If you’ve played the demo, you’ve already experienced the “Temperate” region. The full version of the game gives you three more regions: Tropical, Polar, and Continental. Also a few more things to worry about like temperature and humidity. The big thing though is that now they’ve added a dynamic where you get to confirm that certain animals are back. Are the frogs back in your swamps? Are the deer back in the woods? Are the wolves back now that the deer are back?
And then, once you’re satisfied, you can clean up all of your equipment leaving nothing man-made behind and you leave for the next zone.
The complaints about it that I’ve seen are that it’s too short and it leaves you wanting more. Which, as complaints go, ain’t so bad.
Seriously. Check it out. You’ll feel your blood pressure go down as you play.
So… what are you playing?

Excellent! Off to Steam to pick it up right now!
Still a lot of XCOM2 LWotC. I’ve dropped down to Rookie difficulty because I still can’t get the hang of the early game with the LW mod, and while the tactical layer is MUCH easier (probably too easy), the strategic layer remains difficult. i’ve got 3.5 squads and it still ain’t enough soldiers.Report
My wife and I have been playing a lot of Wild Hearts. I think I have mostly adapted to the ways that is different from Monster Hunter. In addition, a few of the weapon types were locked until Chapter 2, and I was able to change from my slow, great-sword-like weapons to the claw blade which is a lot of fun. It is faster and more mobile. As you attack, you build up a gauge. When the gauge builds up, you can hook into the large monster and swing around on it making attacks. Do enough damage while hooked, you get to do a big diving attack. It has been a lot of fun.
I also got the new WWE 2k23. I heard this year’s was a significant improvement over the the previous few, and it is Steam Deck compatible. I have been making my way through My Rise, which lets you make a character and tells the story starting from his debut. There are a few matches where you have very specific objectives, and those tend to be less fun that the matches that you simply have to win. After I get through this, I will probably start doing random matches with regular superstars. There is also a Showcase mode featuring John Cena. I haven’t played yet, but if I understand correctly, they are big matches where he loses. I think the last WWE game I played was 2013, so it’s been nice to see what’s changed.Report
