Picks!
LAnother perfectly average week last week… 7-7! In part because I straight up forgot to pics the Bucs/Rams game. WHOOPS! Man, I’m good at this! But you keep coming back for more so hear comes your Week 4 “winners”…
(All lines current as of Sunday morning.)
Colts (-2) @ Jaguars
The Jaguars are a bust. The Colts aren’t very good — no one in the AFC South is — and their win last week isn’t particularly encouraging but I see them pulling this one out.
Browns (+7.5) @ Washington
The Browns are playing well for a 0-3 that might be the worst team in the league. That sounds funny to say but it’s true: they’ve been competitive in their last two games and are 2-1 against the spread. Washington probably comes down after a big win last week. I think this game is ugly and close.
Patriots (-7) vs Bills
The Patriots aren’t announcing who will play QB this week. Typical Belichick chicanery. I’m not sure it matters. I was wrong on the Pats this year and would rather not be wrong again.
Seahawks (-1.5) @ Jets
I don’t love taking a hobbled Wilson playing early on the east coast against a great Jets defensive line. I do love taking a stellar defense — especially on the backend — against Pickspatrick.
Falcons (+3) vs Panthers
A close game, the home team getting points, take ’em.
Lions (-3) @ Bears
Many road faves this week, which conventional wisdom says to avoid. But the Bears are really, really bad…
Titans (+4.5) @ Texans
The Texans just lost their best player. I’m not sure their QB is any good. This will probably be an ugly, low-scoring affair so take the points.
Raiders (+3.5) @ Ravens
Yes, the Ravens are 3-0 but they’re not very good. I see a big offensive day for Oakland and the Ravens not keeping up.
Broncos (-3) @ Bucs
Another road favorite, another big mismatch… take the better team.
49ers (+1.5) vs Cowboys
Remember when this was a big rivalry that meant something??? No more! Ewwww….
Chargers (-3.5) vs Saints
The Saints are putrid everywhere at QB and Drew Brees isn’t enough to do anything about it.
Cardinals (-8.5) vs Rams
I think the Cards bounce back after an ugly week 3 against a bad team. They may not be who they thought we were preseason, but they’re more like the team they showed in Weeks 1 and 2 than what we saw in Buffalo last week.
Steelers (-4) vs Chiefs
The Steelers get Bell back and I think that reignites the offense. I don’t see the Chiefs picking up Roethlisberger 4075 times like they did last week against Fitzpatrick and they are struggling to generate pressure without Houston.
Vikings (-4) vs Giants
The Vikings are legitimately good. The Giants are… the Giants: talented but inconsistent. More importantly, they are banged up badly. These defenses are a world apart and I think that makes the difference.
