Tweet of the Day
From Popehat, regarding Ferguson. And yes, this means I’ve actually been looking at Twitter.
We should remember that the officer is a fellow citizen, entitled to all of the rights and presumptions that he did not accord Michael Brown

“Not mad at all. Angry about the mindset. Conservatives who don’t tolerate nanny state love the daddy state. State’s not a parent.”Report
Ouch.
So the problem with the Nanny state is that it’s female taking care of and nurturing instead of masculine do what I say or else.
I’m going to have to stand up for my sweetie and say the Daddy State he’d opt for looks very much like my Nanny State, but he’d be more generous.Report
The problem with the state as parent is that it treats citizens as children. You’ll have to excuse Popehat for not fully addressing the gender dynamics within the 143-character Twitter limit.Report
In my opinion, that’s part of the problem with Twitter one-liner’ism. However, according to some, it can be a healthy alternative to opening up comments sections.
On the issue at hand, I’m ambivalent at best about the state being a parent, but I think I’d prefer Zic’s spouse’s version of the daddy state to the one established by the typical movement conservative.Report
