We had a recent outage due to ongoing problems with the latest WordPress update. We were also forced into some theme changes. Some of these changes are temporary and some are probably not. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks, dexter.

Oh man, that last line is lovely. I totally agree.

No need to erase the comment. I should post what I emailed you here so that others can benefit from the Knowledge.
1) Make sure to upload to this site for all top-of-the-post images. Files that will float left should be 300 or 350 pixels wide tops. If you want an image centered at the top it can be around 650 pixels.
2) Don't "insert" the photo into the post. Instead, copy the URL. It should end in .jpg or something like that signaling that it's an image file (not an attachment.)
3) Past that URL into the Post Image box below.
4) Make sure to place "more" tags after just a couple paragraphs to keep the front page tidy.
5) As always, you can email me with questions. Thanks!

I think it's on Netflix. I'll check it out for sure.

Well said, Blaise.
But we go through our meta periods so that we can get away from them. I'm hoping we're on the other side of the hill.

You may be right, Will. Then again, maybe the Top 25 isn't the best way to look at this. I'd have to go look at entire albums I think to make my case. We'll see.
On “Cocktailblogging: James Bond Edition”
Burt - it looks like the image you're using is from your sub-blog. To make it work as a thumbnail on the front page, it needs to be uploaded to the main site. Thanks.
On “Friday Night (Morning?) Jukebox: Chris Knight & Others”
Will, for the post image to work properly as a thumbnail, it has to be hosted at the ordinary-gentlemen.com URL. I see you've hotlinked from your blog which is fine, but it makes the thumbnail show up as a dead image...
On “Man’s Best Friend”
Mike - friendly reminder re: formatting images. Please follow the steps outlined here. Remember, don't insert the image. Use the uploaded image's link in the Post Image box. The final product will be framed and aligned left (automatically.)
On “Retroactive Table of Contents: March 2 to March 9”
Rufus, thanks for doing this.
But, I am the formatting police. Please remember to not insert images at the top of posts. Instead: upload the image, copy the hyperlink, and paste it into the Post Image spot below the editor - all of which you can read about here.

Murali - I'm going to do a quick reformat of this post. Please read these instructions and let me know if you have any questions. We need to do this in order for everything to work properly.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if you're just trying to be cute or if sarcasm is just impossible for you to avoid. It wears thin after a while. I suggest diversifying your portfolio a bit. Try on new hats.
Anyways...If you click to my second link (in the comments) you'll see I walk back the "gay thing" quite a distance.

Read that post again on how to insert pictures. You don't actually "insert" them at all now.

Elias, I fixed your image formatting. Read this for more information on new formatting guidelines.
On “A vendetta against BioWare?”
Thanks everyone. All of this is very helpful, and some of it mirrors my latest post on the matter which I've been working on this morning and just published. It strikes me as the wrong response to a legitimate issue. And of course, it won't help matters.
On “Country Music and the Culture War”
Blaise, you confuse me. I was saying that in my post and then you told me I don't understand country music or the people who listen to it...?
"
Pretty much. But what if there is no God???
"
I love Steve Earle, but I'd place him outside of mainstream American country. I'll check out the Toby Kieth song since I think he's one of the worst offenders here.
In any case, I am trying to refer solely to what I see as a movement within mainstream, pop country to inject culture war sentiments. Maybe I'm completely off base there by critiquing the genre itself, but that impulse does exist I think.

Stillwater, thanks. I think my emotional response was justified, but my choice of words was not. I am upset, lately, by how often people simply choose to ignore the commenting vision we've laid out. The trolls have obviously made me even more sensitive. I'm only adding fuel to that fire by going this route.
