I took two youngest and we did about 6 hours in line for George HW Bush's lying in state. Very glad I did, really good experience with them and the crowds.
I'd never heard of Teenage Head, and why would a kid in WV ever have heard of them, except my freshman year my suitemate was a feller named Anders from Hamilton. Even at that I wouldn't have known about it other than when the big German-Canadian went on a rant - fueled by inebriation I must admit - about America in general and Teenage Head of all things in particular, which was met with a "What the hell is he talking about" from the rest of us. Having read this from Rufus, that seems to be a rather appropriate way to learn about them for someone who otherwise wouldn't have. Such an excellent peace Rufus, and what a tragedy for that family on multiple levels.
We did this Monday with the second one to go off to college. The normalcy and naturalness of it was rather nice after the oldest had her senior year of college cut short and ruined with COVID, and the younger ones of course dealing with online school for 15 months over two school years. The normal of dorm move in day chaos was nice. Very Nice.
NXT was fully his baby from concept til they took it away from him, so yes and IMO a pretty good one. This is a different beast of course, so scalable is the question.
I would not be surprised if AEW loses their network deal after it runs out, as bad as it has gotten now. There are three years of ratings to go off of, and the Discovery umbrella brand doesn't want this on their branding.
I honestly tried with AEW but completely gave up about two months ago. Its a shambles with no leadership chasing a niche audience and that's all they'll ever have. Blew a huge opportunity with WWE in shambles.
I suspect Vince out of the way now that his Code Red worked to move the old man out is part of the overall sell the company plan, but we will see...
There is a very old joke of someone dying and going to heaven, and they are getting a tour and there are all the happy, smiling people congregated, then the setup is there is a room where a bunch of grumpy people are all enclosed and sealed off from the rest. The punchline of the joke is to insert whatever faith/denomination you are looking to zing and go "Those are the (insert faith group here), they think they are the only ones here."
Faith may be the evidence of things unseen, but the politics of faith is too often a demand for sameness in the optics and buzzwords regardless of what your attendance says, and the problem with optical faith is everyone has a varied opinion on it.
One of these days I really need to write up the experience of implementing Don't Ask, Don't Tell repeal, which I was in charge for my unit and part of the larger team for my duty assignment in my last assignment during my desk duty stint as my medical stuff worsened.
Haidt's piece is excellent written, well-reasoned, well argued, will no doubt be praised and shared and pointed to for some time to come, and is wrong in both premise and conclusion.
But I want to percolate on it for a while longer...
I had to click the link to remember writing that piece. Funny how time and brain damage work. If you'd asked me ten minutes ago just off the title what it was about I could not have told you.
