Saturday!
The lifeboat debate (I’ve also seen it called “the balloon debate” or “the parachute debate”) is usually good for breeding some small amount of resentment among good friends.
I’m sure you know the setup. You’ve got 10 sympathetic characters. You’ve got 8 seats in the lifeboat (or a weight rating for 8 people or 8 parachutes) and now you’ve got to figure out who gets to keep a seat (or whatever). Fun arguments over the utility of octogenarians vs toddlers, classical education vs. street smarts, this class vs. that class, and so on and so forth can really get the blood going.
Now, of course, we don’t *WANT* to breed resentments when we sit down and play games with each other. We’re trying to have a good time… so, instead of lifeboats, we use *ZOMBIES*.
Which brings me to City of Horror.
The basic conceit is that there are 4 (or 5 or 6) of you and the zombie apocalypse is going on. There are a handful of powers that each of you has to help with the whole “zombie” thing and yet… well… it’s still not enough. If you needed to buy an hour or two by throwing one of your group to the zombies…
Which one would you throw? Here’s the fun part: You get to vote on it.
The arguments that were so very unthinkable for polite company when discussing who gets a parachute (and who doesn’t) suddenly become really interesting discussion points… especially when you can argue about how much you have provided the group already versus how many resources you still have to offer.
Sadly, you’re still going to resent each other at the end of the game. But it’ll be the fun kind of resentment.
So… what are you playing?
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD. This games tends to be highly recommended among Wii U enthusiasts, but I’m a bit disappointed. I haven’t played a Zelda game since I had an NES, but I guess for some reason I expecting it to be more RPG-y. Still entertaining, but it seems a bit overhyped IMO.Report
