Weekend Plans Post: Toothless
Poor little Alice is over 20 years old at this point. According to the google, that puts her at about 97 in human years. 97! You start slowing down a lot in your late 90’s, I’ve been told.
Well, she had an abscess and we had the vet check her out and, yep, she needed a toothectomy. So, today, she had some of her molars removed.
We picked her up about an hour after the surgery and her pupils were the size of saucers and she was in a foul fettle. We put up the baby gate to make sure she wouldn’t try to go down a staircase and, after a couple of hours, she found herself willing to eat wet food and willing to be petted. She attempted dry food but when the kibbles get on the wrong side of her mouth, they fall out and she spends 5 seconds rubbing at her face.
Poor kitty.
So now we get to wait for a few days to see if she is in a much better mood once the headache recedes and just enjoy petting a kitty who is caught up on medical procedures, however temporarily.
It’s also a gaming weekend and it’s time to do one of the big trips to Costco that requires multiple trips from the car (Water, Hecho en Mexico Coca-Cola, Iced Tea) and next week is Spring Break at work which means nothing really for me but about half of my co-workers are going to be out of the office. WHICH WILL BE NICE. Might get some stuff done.
All in all, I’m hoping it’ll be mostly uneventful, though. Too much already going on. And, seriously, poor Alice.
So… what’s on your docket?
(Featured image is “Making Biscuits”, photo taken by Maribou this morning when the food had been gone for about 10 hours and Alice was ticked that we were too incompetent to but down new bowls.)
Poor thing. When my ex and I adopted a second cat she had bad teeth. Over the course of a month we had a few canine and smaller teeth removed. After that she ate like a champ.Report
Yeah, my parents had cats that made it to 19 and 21, respectively. Once they get over about 15 it’s just kind of constant maintenance.
I have a rare weekend when I’m caught up “enough” so I am taking Saturday off. Well, making an Ulta run with part of it because the stuff I ordered before Spring Break – when I didn’t have time to go – never came, and Ulta had to refund me because of stupid UPS being stupid.Report
Worked a 14 on Wednesday, which allowed me to only work a couple of hours today. After two trips to Costco, one trip to Trader Joe’s, and one trip to Safeway, I now have pizza and a glass of wine in my basement AND I FIND OUT THAT DIABLO IV IS CONTINUING THE FREE BETA THIS WEEKEND!!!
AND THE NECROMANCER AND DRUID ARE AVAILABLEReport
This song came out when I was still in high school.
But I wouldn’t have appreciated it in high school.
That’s what I find most irritating about this song. It came out too soon for me.Report
Wait. It appears to have come out in 1981.
I would have been in 3rd grade.
So waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too soon.

We name all of our (outdoor) farm cats after Elves. Eventually they just ‘go to the West’ of their own accord; it’s sad when the absence becomes pronounced, but sometimes we are surprised by joy when they come back after a week or so. But in the long run, to the West it is.
Our weekend was a spontaneous Thursday trip with the Eldest (23) and youngest (8) sons going to see the Blackhawks (our ‘home’ team) play the Caps. It’s funny because both kids are born and raised in VA and have never lived in Chicago… but loyalty to the Pater Familias is a great motivator.
Posted pictures on Twitter… the 8yo got a puck when we went down to watch warm-ups. Seth Jones saw him and deftly flicked a puck into the netting in the one place where it would fall down into the stands. Which it did. The little guy was absolutely giddy. Very cute.
