Meanwhile, In That Other Investigation Into Trump & 2020 Election
Back in the spring, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis requested and was granted a grand jury to look into former President Trump’s election interference in Georgia. Now, that grand jury is issuing subpoenas to some of Trump’s former circle of advisors.
The Fulton County grand jury investigating Donald Trump’s potential criminal interference in the 2020 presidential election subpoenaed several close advisers to the former president Tuesday, including Sen. Lindsey O. Graham and Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, according to documents obtained by The Washington Post.
The subpoenas, which were approved July 5 by the judge presiding over the grand jury, summon senior members of Trump’s legal team, including Giuliani and legal advisers Kenneth Chesebro, John Eastman, Jenna Ellis and Cleta Mitchell, all of whom have knowledge of Trump’s attempts to tamper with the election process in battleground states such as Georgia, according to the documents.
Graham (R-S.C.) and the conservative pundit Jacki Pick Deason were also subpoenaed by the grand jury.
This news came and went without much media attention, which just shows how deeply corrupted the GOP has become, and now normalized this is in our politics.
A sitting Senator, the former President’s lawyer, and other high ranking members of the previous administration are publicly implicated in crimes, and the American public yawns.
Which also shows the stakes in the next election. No republic can survive the citizenry calmly accepting this level of corruption.Report
