I have a feeling the social dynamic around muscle back then was extremely different than it is now. Even as recently as the 70’s and 80’s the idea of musculature was in a lot of flux. The sculpted physiques that Hollywood peddles now are quite a new development. Back then when nutrition was so much more expensive (especially protein!) having a muscular physique must have had some very different connotations.Report
