The men range between 6'2" (Ted Danson) and 5'9" (William Jackson Harper),

On “The Time For A DeSantis/Trump Fight Is Not Now

Under DeSantis a salesguy, is a 'slesu', because you can't say 'gay'.

On “Charity, Clout, and Moral Outrage: On MrBeast and Seeing

I've never seen anyone mention this, but:

Jameela Jamil is 5'10".
D'Arcy Carden is also 5'10".
Kristen Bell is 5'1".

There must be some moral significance to that.

This is also a problem with books. I really, really, really want to read Duane Decker's books about the Blue Sox (a fictional major league baseball team), some of which I read as a kid, but they've been out of print for decades and used copies either cost hundreds of dollars or are unavailable.

There are two kinds of people, and one is those who recognize powers of 2.

The current ones are banning Stephen King from libraries.

I like Perry; he was a great pitcher and a loveable rogue. And I suspect at least half his success was getting into batters' heads when he *wasn't* doctoring the ball. Still, it's odd to decry the cheaters up above and eulogize the greaseballer.

"

He was the first pitcher to win the Cy Young Award in both leagues – for the Cleveland Indians in 1972 and the San Diego Padres in 1978.

Both after the Giants traded him away in 1971 for being too old.

"

There's an unauthorized sequel to Asimov's Foundation series which is pretty good (the ending is disappointing) but can't call The Mule The Mule.

On “Don’t Be a “Kids These Days” Conservative

First off, conservatives are obsessed with the young.

Matt Gaetz certainly is.

On “‘Not As Bad As Trump’ Is A Lousy Excuse

The Biden story isn’t anywhere on the page. The Washington Post has a story on the front page, but it requires scrolling halfway down to find it.

The Biden story has been front-page new every day there's been something new. The newspapers aren't hiding the story ; there was nothing today or yesterday. (There *was* a new revelation about Santos.) The front-page of WaPo headline that's halfway down isn't news, it's an op-ed by Jm Geraghty of the National Review.

"

Also, it is bad is that Biden and his team knew about the classified documents before the November elections and chose not to say anything.

No, it's normal. The Trump situation had been going on for years, and didn't become public until an impossible-to-keep-quiet FBI action.

As a general, Nathaniel Banks was known as "Commissary" Banks for his practice of abandoning his supply wagons during hasty retreats, to the gratitude of hungry rebels.

ThTh8: What I observed during the early part of the pandemic was streets being almost deserted and drivers assuming they'd be unlikely to encounter cross-traffic, so more near-misses when they did. Stoplight timing seemed to be altered to increase the amount of "both direction red" time, I presume as a safety measure.

According to Twitter, it's all Pete Buttigeg's fault.

On “TSN Open Mic for the week of 1/9/2023

AFAICT "terminating" here means not rehiring. Since she's an adjunct and there is a sea of potential replacements, this is cheap and easy, and once the next outrage occurs, no one will even remember this one.

On “The Big Surpise From the Speaker Fight That No One is Talking About

Afterward, McCarthy thanked Trump, saying no one should doubt his influence.

On “Seat George Santos and Send Him Packing

The GOP wanted to forbid candidates who were alleged Nazi collaborators at age 15 until they realized it was George S*an*tos.

"

The only quick way to be rid of him is if he doesn't meet the constitutional requirements:

* 25 years old
* a resident of New York state
* a US citizen for 7 years

AFAICT, the first two are unquestioned. Regarding his citizenship, I've seen nothing beyond speculation.

Why doesn't Yeats rhyme with Keats?
