Saturday Morning Gaming: Dungeon Warfare
Back in 2017 and 2018, I discussed the two games Dungeon Warfare and its sequel: Dungeon Warfare II. A couple of charming top-down pixel graphic tower defense games.
You’re the evil overlord and the townspeople are coming to depose your rule. So set up traps! Spike traps, arrow traps, push traps, pull traps, lightning traps.
Get coins for each townsperson defeated allowing you to build more traps… which is good, because the townspeople will send specialized attackers. Fast ones. Armored ones. Ones that break down doors quickly. No narrative, really. Just the map and the traps.
If you enjoy tower defense, this was a fun one and the sequel was fun too.
I beat them and then didn’t think about it until earlier this week when I wanted to play a fun little tower defense game and remembered these guys.
AND THEN I SAW THAT THERE’S A SEQUEL COMING OUT SOON!!!
Dungeon Warfare III is coming out this year! And it has a demo!
I’ve played a little bit of it and the main thing I’ve noticed is that they seem to have added a bit of a build-your-own-map section (instead of merely revealing it to you as you play) but the dungeons themselves? Immediately familiar.
As someone who is a big fan of tower defense, I’m looking forward to playing this one. And I just reset all of my progress on the first one so I can play it again fresh from the start.
So… what are you playing?
