  3. I sometimes see people saying on social media, “The civil war is already upon us; the shooting and the violence have already started.” This is wrong. There is violence and vandalism, and it’s a bad thing, and you shouldn’t contribute to it. No, that is not “submitting in advance.” No, that is not “just letting them get away with it.” It is not even “not fighting back.” It is not giving up on the idea that we can go about our politics in a peaceful and lawful way.Report
