  1. This looks really amazing, and I had never seen it – Thank you for sharing it. I definitely will make some

As an aside, I am surprised there are apparently good Italian restaurants in Rome. I wasn’t able to find any in my visit there. All that i found was very catered for tourists (which I was), but it was a really underwhelming eating experience, compared to many other great Italian cities (Venice, for instance, where tourists get to eat very nice food)Report

    1. When in Italy, J_A, I suggest that you try to find restaurants that don’t have English menus.

The only bad meal I ever had in Italy was at a cafeteria immediately off of Piazza San Marco in Venice, where my then-wife insisted she needed to eat something right now despite my warning that it was unlikely to be very good. Afterward, she gave the restaurant a review of, “Oh, that wasn’t very good.”Report

    2. I went when I was 21. It was the mid-nineties and my dad did a bit of work in Rome. He took the whole family over and we ate very well but then all the restaurants we went to were recommended by a native Roman that dad worked with. The Roman was an odd fellow. He insisted on being called Professor and would have been intolerantly pompous if he wasn’t so interesting. Amatriciana has never tasted so good.Report
