    Inflation calculators say that 8 bucks in 1927 is about 110-120 dollars today.

    Google shopping says that straw boater hats can be obtained for as little as 30 dollars, but most are in the 60-80 range, with a few sites going into 120-150.

    But also, Google shopping stock photos imply the vast majority of 2021 straw boater hat users are women.Report

      Must be nice hats. My outdoor one-size-fits-most straw hat for hiking or working in brush has seen multiple seasons, only looks mildly beat up, and cost much closer to $8 than to $120. Comfortable and takes more than a casual breeze to get it off, too.Report
