On “Meetings, And The Pure, Clean, Unbridled Hatred Thereof

Let me tell you, in the non tech world, it's not necessarily that way. My dept is understaffed and undertrained. There's lots of good people in my company, except for the tendency to have mass meetings "celebrating" stuff--which seems to come from HR. If I attended every meeting invite they sent out, I'd have 40% less working time. I get meeting invites for that stuff almost every other day for this stuff.

Vigilantes come about when the rule of law and order either doesn't exist, or is ineffective. Parallels can be drawn...

On “AITA For Not Telling My Girlfriend About My Hobby?

I've always loved cooking. I'm very good at it. Thought about going to culinary school and becoming a chef. Decided against it because I didn't want to kill my passion and end up a chef who didn't love cooking anymore. Sound I work in business and love cooking for myself, friends, family, etc., and I'm content. Could I have been a chef? Maybe, but in many ways, I am, just not paid for it.

On “It’s HGTV’s Fault I Hate My Home, or Something

I had a number of "gym friends" over. The common comment was "dude, you got a lot of cool stuff". Does it resell well? Dunno. But I'll slap a new coat of paint and maybe replace the carpet. Should be good to go then.

On “AITA For Not Telling My Girlfriend About My Hobby?

"At what point in the relationship should you have been expected to expose deepest secrets?"

Never. I still carry two "secrets" from my marriage. One that would embarrass me and one that would embarrass her. They shall not be discussed......ever.

On “Saturday Morning Gaming: Stone Age (the board game)

Yep. First thing I used to do, playing newer games with an older box, was to turn off ray tracing, etc. But I had a lot of ram, relatively speaking, on that older box.

"

"Cyberpunk only ran on top-of-the-line boxes out of the box." Yeah, no. The box I ran Cyberpunk on was several years old, and when purchased was a tier or two below top. It had a decent graphics card and a goodly amount of RAM but was, at least, 4 years old. I rarely had problems with the game.

It should be easy to dismiss any allegations it was Hunter if Hunter has never visited the White House. Sign in logs should document that, assuming family has to sign in. If he's not been in the WH within the dates the coke was found, one could exclude him...again, assuming family has to sign in...

But yeah, probability would suggest that hit's him...

On “From Bloomberg: Amazon CEO Asks His Hollywood Studio to Explain Its Big Spending

Peter Jackson did a good job, and brought in 3B dollars. Maybe, just maybe, Amazon should have tried to get a guy like him, or one with his capabilities.

This! And I only saw snippets of the show from review vids. The acting sucked.

But the leaf was discontinued.

"Why was the Nissan Leaf discontinued?
What we know about the EV set to replace the Nissan LEAF
The LEAF has lost ground, with sales falling consistently for several years. According to a report from Automotive News last year, Nissan will not be rolling out a next-generation LEAF model. Instead, Nissan is planning for a more modern EV to replace the LEAF, designed for today's buyers."

"

It's a valid point. I mean, it's an electric car. There's not much to service. The tires were separate. There are no fluids (except perhaps windshield wiper fluid). There's little to lubricate. Basically they hooked up a computer and ticked boxes off. And the point was the "allegedly" EVs are supposed to be lower cost cars to service and to "fuel".

"

"EV charge points in Britain are now nearly as expensive as gasoline"
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/09/27/ev-drivers-in-britain-see-jump-in-public-charging-cost-.html

And that's for a "rapid charger". The kind that, with frequent use, degrades battery life.

I took my ELECTRIC CAR for its first EVer SERVICE and was SHOCKED! Prepare yourself for this...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kOTGEtjUdI&ab_channel=TheMacMaster

"Electric Cars, EV, Electric Vehicles, call them what you like, we are told that they are the future of motoring, we are also told that they are cheaper to run than petrol or diesel internal combustion engine cars. However I believe that isn't the actual reality of EV Ownership. I own an all electric Porsche Taycan and found that with the initial outlay and using public electric charging points driving an Electric Car costs substantially more than running a petrol or diesel car, even charging your electric car at home is now more expensive because of the rising Electricity Prices. I've had my EV now for just over a year and it's due it's first EVer service. So in today's vlog we are going to Porsche Leeds to se just how much it costs and what's involved in servicing an Electric Car."

Service cost: 750 pounds. Not including the new tires.

"

So, for example, where is the line drawn? Example: Vice channel's "(RE-Solved)

"(Re)Solved. Internet sleuths and professional investigators re-open some of Hollywood's most notorious and controversial celebrity deaths."

I've watched a few of these, and as best I can tell, they are as crazy as the UN 1 world gov't conspiracy theories, etc. So, for entertainment they are ok, but if they jeopardize important people or gov't institutions, they gotta go? Draw me some lines "you shall not pass".

Well, the gene pool is better off....

Not bothering to get certifications, using a game controller to steer the sub, other examples of shoddy work/poor design? It was either arrogance, ignorance, or stupidity, or some combo. As to those paying for the trip, where was their due diligence? (this wasn't a tour company tour) One guy had the smarts to apparently change his mind and not go.
