Indeed. I'm not saying that's how it happened, but, if you were in a scheme to do what has been alleged, this is one way you could do it.

"

And likely not word one when it was happening to the border states...

"

However, you can take that entire situation/convo where the son calls up Dad and they "talk about the weather" and it's really talking about a deal. There's enough plausible deniability to make it work, and that would also be why Pataki was sticking to the script.

Not saying it went that way, BUT, if you've worked in and within the system for decades, a scenario like is is what you work for....smokescreens within smokescreens.

Tierra Allen's road home from Dubai may have just gotten more difficult.

https://news.yahoo.com/rental-car-company-now-demanding-184346340.html?.tsrc=daily_mail&uh_test=0_00

"Radha Stirling, a UK-based human-rights advocate helping Allen with her case, wrote in a press release that Dubai police amended the complaint because of widespread international media attention and that police now alleged that Allen "slandered and defamed" staff at the car-rental company."

Sure, keep digging the hole.... best advice in the comments:

"The family in the United States need to pipe down and let diplomacy take its course. This part of the world is about saving face and if the families continue, it will only get worse. And remember the outcome isn't going to be fair. If you don't like it, don't go to the UAE. "

Def not on my destination list.

My training for my most recent job was entirely on the company computer. HR, ethics, workplace safety, sexual harassment, yadda yadda. For the last, say 15-20 years, annual "training" as a current employee was entirely online for all my employers, even pre covid.

On “Does Office Chair Ergonomics Explain The Claremont Strain of Trumpism?

I see no reason why the gov't should mandate certain safety things. Seat belts? Well, don't use them and die, not our problem.

Also, remember airbags...they DO kill people. Remember the Takata airbag recall? It's a federal offense to disable an airbag. So, even when I had those in my car, and there was a documented case to be made that disabling them was SAFER, it was and still is, illegal to do so. So, in this case, the gov't safety laws actually endangered people and still is doing so.

On “Zoom To End Full Time Work From Home. No, Seriously

"This week, a study from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California, Los Angeles found that workers randomly assigned to work from home full-time are 18 per cent less productive than those in the office."

My productivity has increased dramatically as a full time WFH employee (I go in once a month). Why? Don't have people stopping by on the pretext of some issue and bitching about stuff for 30 mins before they get to the point. Also, no one in the facility has an office. Cubes with low walls almost guarantee a noisy environment and I need to think.

You can pry my used Aeron chair out of my cold dead hands.

On “Making Love in a Canoe

I drank Coors Lite in college....everybody was, so....but when someone asked me prior to a beer run what I wanted, I always got a Belgium beer six pack, knowing that after six of those, I would not care what any beer afterward tasted like, assuming I could taste it. Later my dad did some homebrew--did not like. When I went to England and Scotland in my 30s I started drinking scotch, and now have moved to bourbon. Figure it's been decades since I drank any form of beer.

You know, if more of this happened, it wouldn't matter that cops aren't policing in Cali.

As e-bikes proliferate, so do deadly fires blamed on exploding batteries

https://ktla.com/news/as-e-bikes-proliferate-so-do-deadly-fires-blamed-on-exploding-batteries/

"NEW YORK (AP) — The explosion early on a June morning ignited a blaze that engulfed a New York City shop filled with motorized bicycles and their volatile lithium-ion batteries. Billowing smoke quickly killed four people asleep in apartments above the burning store."

"Consumer advocates and fire departments, particularly in New York City, are urging the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to establish national safety standards and confiscate imports that don’t comply with regulations at the border, so unsafe e-bikes and poorly manufactured batteries can be taken off the streets and out of homes."

I'm thinking it's not bad luck that's the blame....

Welp, Yen ain't white in the books, but I guess she appears that way in W3. If the goal was "non white", they ain't deviating from the books much with this woman...so I guess they define "challenging beauty standards" as "not white but almost". Pardon the eye roll.

On “No, I Will Not Try That or Even Go to Your Small Town

Let me tell you about the small town I grew up in.

7K people. Main minorities were Native Americans and Mormons. Farms and Ranches, some industry. I like to shock people in the big city nowadays that I grew up in an area where the fences had signs that said "trespassers will be shot" and it was meant. You didn't go into other people's without and invite. Doors were left unlocked, at least those of the folks I knew. Were not that many cops, hardly ever saw them. People knew you even if you didn't know them. Some guy called the house at midnight and informed my mom that our dog was at his house "on the prowl" for lady dogs and to come and get him.

Racism/sexism/etc? Never heard of any, never experienced any. Not even against the native Americans. I had a friend who was NA and he defended me when someone was harassing me in the bathroom. EVERYBODY talked so that stuff would get around fast.

Main problems seemed to be underage drinking (which some parents actively encouraged) and drunk driving, as it was rural and if you crashed in a side canyon, you might not be found for days. Now that the industry has left that town, most folks moved away. It's a meth hole from what I hear.

Houston woman detained in Dubai, charged with screaming in public

You know, you might want to understand the laws / culture of the country you visit, just to ensure you can get out. While not illegal, I can't remember the number of people who were either refused entry or told to cover up when they showed up in "inappropriate" clothing in catholic churches in Italy. Sure, just walk past the sign telling you that and ignore it and get offended when you're called out.

"Scientists uninvolved with this study told CNN the exact tipping point for the critical system is uncertain, and that measurements of the currents have so far showed little trend or change. But they agreed these results are alarming and provide new evidence that the tipping point could occur sooner than previously thought."

"measurements of the currents have so far showed little trend or change" Err what? So, there's been no significant change, but it could change drastically anytime?
