Tech Tuesday – Ludicrous Lobster vs Jumbo Jellyfish Edition! – 01/16/18
Busy 6 weeks ahead, since a coworker has decided to leave, and I am inheriting his project.

Short and sweet, kind of like how my holiday vacation has felt (how did I manage to get very little of what I wanted to do, done?)
Let’s talk about the massive plot hole The Last Jedi introduced.
Between travel and being in 3 days of meetings last week, I didn’t get to really mine my sources as much as I like to, so a somewhat abbreviated set this week. I did get to partake of a team building exercise last week where we did an Escape Room. We made it out with, quite literally, 3 seconds to spare. Given that the reported success rate of the room is 3%, we took the win.
So I recently discovered Steven Universe. I fully recommend it (it’s on Cartoon Network and Hulu). Some people on Tumblr, etc. get a little too into it, but it is quite smart. Don’t let the animation style make you think it isn’t.
My thoughts on the talks put forth at the local TED event. Also, if you are in the PacNW, and find yourself at a McMenamins, try the Pike Place Cod sandwich. SoOoOoOo good!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving for those in the US (or not in the US, but who celebrate it anyway). We are reprising our plan from last year, which is to meet up with some friends at the local Brazilian Steakhouse. My Portuguese is a little rusty, but I’m pretty sure the name of the place translates to “Meat Coma”.
Back from Disneyland. If you find yourself at California Adventure, the ride ‘Soaring’ is a treat. And ‘California Screaming’ is a respectable roller coaster.
Another two weeks, another span of lots of incremental stories, without much in the way of breakthroughs. If this keeps up, I’m gonna have to expand my sources pool.
Pickings were kinda thin these past two weeks, lots of stories that were ho-hum variations on topics discussed before. But there was still some stuff that caught my eye.
The First – Yesterday was Bug’s first day of Kindergarten.
The Anniversary was Saturday, 22 years of marriage. My secret to a happy marriage? I argue with you people instead of my wife. 😉
Only one link about the eclipse, and it’s minor. You are welcome.
Not a ton of links today, I just didn’t see that much of interest this week.
Why Finland? Because I got a lot of respect for Finland. Lots of the feel-good social democracy stuff of their neighbors, but still have a tradition of not taking crap from the communists next door. And everyone goes about with a puukko. I catch flak from people who freak out I carry a folding pocket knife everywhere I go.
