A federal indictment alleges that New York City Mayor Eric Adams “sought and accepted” benefits from “foreign businesspeople and at least one Turkish government official” in exchange for influence going back to 2014.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams IndictmentFederal prosecutors unsealed a 57-page indictment against New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday focusing on the mayor’s ties to Turkish officials and actions he took as mayor-elect.
The complaint alleges Adams accepted free travel on Turkish Airlines, illegal contributions to his campaign and other perks from a number of people connected to the Turkish government.
In exchange, the indictment alleges, Adams used his position as incoming mayor to influence the opening of the Turkish consulate in Manhattan.
