This seems to have mattered to the people of San Francisco not a whit. Which I for one find heartening.Report
San Francisco always had a significant Jewish population/elite which was welcomed with open arms or relatively open arms. Many earlier leaders and prominent citizens were Jewish. I think though, this was helped, by many of them being German, Reform, and assimilated minded as opposed to ultra-Orthodox Eastern Europeans who adhered to the old ways. Plus it was a newer city and could not be snobby like New York or Boston or Philadelphia.Report
The point was more about contemporary erasure of Jewish identity in the way that wouldn’t happen with every other minority.Report
