    1996 was a very different time. The electorate was older, white, and much more conservative. The Christian Right was at or near the heights of its power and influence. Etc, etc.Report

    • Older is questionable. The median age in the US has been slowly but steadily moving up since 1970. The fastest growing age groups are all in the oldster category, and have been for quite a while.Report

      Black voters often favor stricter drug laws than white voters. The only reason I can think of that you’d associate blacks with drugs is…not pretty, but to be expected. The soft bigotry of low liberal expectations.Report

    I’m trying to figure out who the voiceover actor is. He’s the same guy that’s done a ton of these political ads, (here’s another one) but I don’t think it’s the same guy as either of the two most famous movie trailer voices, Don LaFontaine and Hal Douglas. It’s definitely not Fontaine, but it is a bit close to Douglas –
