There was apparently a film from 1929 by the same name. I think that this might be earlier than Bing’s version. (It’s tough to find the original… I mean, I think it was sheet music before it was a recording…)

Prompted by your comment of ‘sheet music’. to compare it to the comic, I tried to look up the actual notation of the “I kissed your hand Madame” (because I can’t sight read for squat) and either copyright law or digitation preferences or both make it more difficult to do so than it is to find and listen to actual performances of the song.Report
They’re selling a copy from 1928 on Ebay for $5!
I want to say that we’re still stuck up to the end of 1925 for Public Domain stuff.
So if the song isn’t much older than 1928, we’ve still got a few years.Report
