  1. My day gets better when there’s a Ben Sears post in the morning.

Man, you really have to write a book, or at least get a tumblr or something where the world can look at your recipes. This one, also, is now in the to-do soon.

    Thanks againReport

  2. You better be careful, “Mad Max actually started as a remake of It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” is exactly the kind of Fake Fact that AI-generated listicles love to pass around as actual truth…Report

  3. “Sorry, Farrah. I hope they let you ball your brains out in heaven.”

Don’t you mean, “I hope they let me, etcetera”?Report

  4. It’s actually interesting seeing how many times “Mad Mad Mad Mad World” has been re-made over the years. I guess it’s an easy formula. Maybe they could do one as a side story to the “Fast And Furious” series? Get an AI-generated Paul Walker as one of the drivers.Report

  5. Actually your parents were on to something, because as you point out, Cannonball Run was super horny. There’s a bit where Jackie Chan watches a porno while driving (because his super-advanced Japanese car has a TV built into the dash).

Interestingly, I only knew that he was watching a porn movie because of an inside joke regarding a classified satellite-control facility, and I’d heard about the facility before I’d heard of the porn movie…Report

  6. Roma tomatoes are the *BEST* tomatoes. The boss used them quartered in his caesars and I did it that way too until I discovered that a handful of grape tomatoes are 90% as good for 10% of the effort.

But grilling them? That never even occurred to me.Report

    1. Of course the Italian ancestors are groaning at this but it looks super good. Now, if it’s me, I might chop up them sausages you’ve grilled up so beautifully, pop them in the mixing bowl too, and then take an immersion blender to it, producing a uniform sauce with the meat mixed in. Not Bolognese sauce, but a nifty twist on a simple Americano meat sauce (aka “gravy”).

Alsotoo grilling the tomatoes looks like a great way to make that smoky, rich salsa that I like on tortilla chips: grill the tomatoes and the jalapenos and the onions first, then mix them all up with salt, garlic, cilantro, etc.

Many thanks for this one, Ben!Report
