David Thornton

David Thornton is a freelance writer and professional pilot who has also lived in Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and Emmanuel College. He is Christian conservative/libertarian who was fortunate enough to have seen Ronald Reagan in person during his formative years. A former contributor to The Resurgent, David now writes for the Racket News with fellow Resurgent alum, Steve Berman, and his personal blog, CaptainKudzu.     I don’t think any faction is exerting more control than is justified. If we were a more parliamentary system, we’d have no problem categorizing this: the center-right is trying to build a coalition. We just don’t think of it that way, and it prevents us from thinking about the kind of deals a coalition needs to make.Report

    Jim Jordan and his ilk are the end result of the Republican Party thinking and acting (heh, get it?) since 1980. They have always been like this, now their just more out in the open. Anyone that subscribes to conservatism tacitly endorses what they do and how they act, and I refuse to believe any differently because conservatives do not act any differently. Even when writing indignant and blasé nonsense that I regularly see from Mr. Thornton.Report
