She was supposed to get home on Monday night. Like, long enough after WWE Raw was over that I could do my Monday Night Thing and then drive over to the airport and just surf my phone for a half hour until she arrived. After a lovely meal and a pretty decent show, I walked out to my car when I got the text: “They screwed up my layover. I’m spending the night here and they’re flying me out tomorrow.”
Oh. Bummer.
So I went home and told the kitties “sorry, one more night” and slept fitfully. Dreamed I went to North Korea. Spent the dream trying to get out of North Korea. Woke up early, went to work early, got off work early, and FINALLY PICKED HER UP AT THE AIRPORT. WHEW.
Got her home, brought in the luggage, and we lied down on the bed to talk about the trip and the various details of her layover from heck and the good things about the visit and all that and both of the cats loved hearing her talk and jumped up on the bed and demanded attention and snuggles. She got her post-ordeal shower, she took her post-ordeal nap, and then it was bedtime and we went to bed and the cats joined us and I GOT 9 HOURS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MORE THAN A MONTH.
Whew. So things are finally back to normal.
We have to do stuff like restock the fridge now that both of us are home, figure out what kinds of pop we need to restock, meal planning for the next week or so, and getting used to the basic friction of going from “being the only one in the house” to “she’s in the kitchen too” and “she’s brushing her teeth when I wanted to brush *MY* teeth”. Oh. Yeah. I live with someone else.
As for this weekend, we put off the whole “switching from winter clothing to summer clothing” until after she came back and I suppose it’s good because it snowed a buncha times while she was gone and there was a threat of Snowpocalypse on Tuesday that we managed to dodge and so… it might finally be time to put away the lion’s share of the hoodies and the flannel sheets and switch to short sleeves and linen.
Oh, and that means that we’re going to be doing a *TON* of laundry this weekend. But that’s okay. Laundry is a good chore.

Looks like I’m heading out to a friend’s place with two other friends to install a Starlink receiver on his house (he lives an an absolutely gorgeous–but remote–area). I’m made to understand that his lovely wife is making a pot of green chili, which is of course the real draw! And youngest boy is visiting from college for the weekend so I’m hoping to hang out with him for a bit before driving him back to school Sunday evening.Report
