  1. Well, I tried Civ 6, which it turns out is suffering from a rather crippling bug — whatever algorithm they have to determine starting placement has been broken for almost a month now. After three starts where, no matter what settings I used, I started within spitting distance of another civ (including one game where I stupidly moved my settler one space and, in the AI’s first turn, they plopped down a city so close to me that it bumped my settler….) and apparently always will until it’s fixed.

And Civ 6 is about wide gameplay (it’s clearly tilted towards larger empires, not 4 cities and done like Civ 5), it makes the game pointless. No matter where I start, I’m hemmed in on all sides from turn 1. I’m running into other civ’s capitals on turn 10 just from exploration.

So I shelved it and started Stellaris.

I think I’m getting the hang of it, however I will say this: Any game that makes me restart the game to change screen resolution or swap between fullscreen and windowed is on thin freaking ice. It’s not rocket science, and I don’t understand how on earth they thought it was okay to demand restarting the game to adjust resolution.Report
