It is the same across all departments. It is different for on campus vs. off-campus work and research vs. education contracts and if a university has multiple campuses it can vary across campuses. However, it is the same between departments. I am guessing your level 3 biosafety lab takes in less indirects than they need, but your applied math research takes in more and hopefully it averages out in the end.
