Ya know, if the Trump administration wants to get into the university administration business, I daresay they could get Congress to pass an appropriation for setting a college up.
I could see that if the students getting the funding were also the ones causing the trouble, but I doubt that's the case.
Let's just call a spade a spade. The offending students were speechifying about something the Trump administration doesn't like, so the funding was yanked. There have been plenty of other threats to do the same where the only "crime" was occupying the quad.
These damn nitwits are getting outwitted by some of the dumbest people to ever occupy the seats of power of this nation. I contacted my 2 senators and urged them to vote no. FFS.
He even came to Chicago, where he infamously pissed off a bunch of black journalists. Which was probably the whole reason. All I know is he f'ed up traffic on Lower Wacker something good.
I completely agree with you. The problem America has is 2-fold, in my opinion.
First, the Electoral College disenfranchises a huge swath of the American electorate. Blue voters in red states and red voters in blue states may as well stay home. Because of its continued existence, America is teetering on, if it's not already there, permanent minority rule. When was the last 50 state presidential campaign?
Second, the House is too small, resulting in a sclerotic Dem/Rep division of the spoils. State legislatures can gerrymander districts to get the outcomes the controlling parties like, resulting in relatively few competitive seats. When this country was founded each representative had about 60,000 people in his district. Today, it's nearly 700,000. Who's going to be responsive to that many people?
"As the Office of Personnel Management oversaw the layoffs of thousands of federal workers and pressed others to justify their positions, the agency’s chief spokesperson repeatedly used her office for a side hustle: aspiring Instagram fashion influencer."
"I dunno, it seems pretty clear to me. I support the President retaliating against Perkins Coie for its misconduct against the best interest of America."
As someone who hates the process of flying, I think a lot of people ignore the door to door time cost of flying. I have a radius inside of which I'll drive.
(Outside maybe, too, because I love seeing what 2 lane America has to offer, but that's not germane to the discussion.)
Right? Intercity rail would be awesome. From Chicago, where I live, there are any number of cities I'd love to take the train to, even if it was only as fast as driving.
I'm planning a trip to the UK as I write, and one of the cities I'm going to visit is Exeter, which has a population just slightly smaller than Rockford. There are 38 trains running today between London and Exeter.
Colonialism refers to steady encroachment on Palestinian land. It's the same as Manifest Destiny.
At the same time, people in 1948 thinking that carving out a new Jewish nation in that area of the world was going to happen peacefully was the height of Great Power folly. Here we are, nearly 80 years later, still living with that.
You're not addressing the criticism part. The Palestinian leaders are idiots and the people who cling to any right of return are fools. To acknowledge that and also state that no one has clean hands over there is my point. By your reasoning the only agency Israel has is, "Look what you made me do."

As far as I know there's no bar to a presidential pardon in the Constitution.

Porque no los dos? Also, why does the U.S. government care if Columbia students shut down Columbia's campus?

F*ck Dick Durbin. That relic needs to fade into well-deserved obscurity.

In normal times, "I'm not Donald Trump." ought to net you exactly 100% of the electorate. Alas, we live in more interesting times.
