On “Bridge Derangement Syndrome

Just eyeballing the video that would be consistent with the visable power loss in the video from the channel cam we have

On “Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore Struck By Container Ship, Collapses

There are indeed, though not as prevalent in the 70s when FSK was built. Interesting tidbit along these lines linked here as I've read on this today: The parallel power lines to the bridge have two towers with dolphins, and last year those dolphins were reinforced. The bridge, obviously, where not, though a dolphin or fender alone probably wouldn't stop a ship that big, it would have to be a full fill of some notable size for that much mass going the speed this ship was reportedly going.

Yet another validation why I don't have Facebook...

"

There is no such thing as a "tolerance" for an uncontrolled 95K+ ton, 300m ship crashing into a structure at speed. Someone else can do the F=Ma math on that but it is immense.

"

Elon magically discovered this request from December the day after he sits for the interview...

"

I think both of these individuals have a track record of being self-centered jackasses, but I suspect this is spin since the entirety of right wing online media all ran the same story at the same time, and also unless Don dropped those demands on Elon during or after the interview Musk knew that going in or - most probably - this is exaggerated to make Lemon look bad after Musk looks bad for sacking him for asking him tough questions.

On “Alabama Supreme Court IVF Embryos Ruling: Read It For Yourself

I refuse to buy from anyone claiming to be "pro life" that IVF - an extremely expensive and involved process someone has to undertake, often for years, for the express purpose of creating a human life - is a bad thing, even wicked to the most extreme elements who decry it. Utter hypocrisy.

On “About Last Night: Trump Wins Iowa

It's a classic. While you're logged feel free to write something, you are always welcomed.

Good to see you back, Mike

On “Open Mic for the week of 1/1/2024

I tweeted this but will reiterate here: One of the reasons I just don't care at all about the current social media discourse around Harvard is because the two loudest folks making noise about it, Elise Stefanik and Christopher Rufo, also made sure their own CV's of ambition has Harvard emblazoned on it. They wanted the influence and power social cheat code of Harvard nomenclature themselves before anyone knew who they were.

On “Supreme Court To Hear Trump Primary Ballot Challenges

Might be wrong, but I suspected they would just issue a ruling statement. If they are doing a warp speed oral to issue a ruling, I suspect they are going to really stomp all over this hard enough to prevent anyone from doing it again anytime soon.

On “We Should Talk More About Dying, Cause You Will

Thank you so much for reading and commenting

"

I purposefully didn't link to anyone of it, for obvious reasons that with the new monetization system of social media not going to financially reward those kind of reprobates. But it was out there

On “Napoleon And The Spasmodic Lamb Chop of Destiny

I don't get too twisted in the "historical accuracy" debate. It's a film, the best you do its not going to be close. Having said that, there are a few really egregiously bad things especially in the Waterloo conclusion that are just eye-rolling bad. I'm for cinematic license, but if you want forgiveness and leeway, better make a good film first to defend from.

"

I read they did quite a bit of physical and the CGI used isn't out of place or offensive, and I am someone who despises CGI of the modern era. Even things that were clearly an FXs shot, like shooting grapeshot into a mob of civilians, its well done and seemless to the story. I had a lot of issues with the film but the CGI and cinematography were not an issue for me.
