Frankly, I view "allow early voting and expanded voting hours in those counties that were heavily Republican, and extremely restricted voting hours and dates in those heavily Democratic" the same as gerrymandering. Those in power try to game the system to their advantage / their opponents disadvantage. This seems to be in the same vein.
Sure, I'd like for it to stop, but it's not going to, and neither is gerrymandering. That's not to say that REAL voter fraud should not be taken seriously. People should have the confidence that their vote counts, they how they voted was recorded correctly, counted correctly, and that no one voted in their name, etc.
I rent now. I used to own a home with the now ex wife, which we had to sell. It was on the market 2 years and we dropped the price to 20k higherr than what we'd paid for it a decade ago.
Why would I buy something now? From what I hear, load apps are more difficult to get approved, the economy sucks, and sequestration is rippling through the economy. I rent so I can give 30 days notice and move to where the jobs are, or worse case, a lower cost of living area if I loose my job. I already drive an hour to work vs 15 minutes before.
I remember when "Saving Private Ryan" came out and the commentary from some vets who were actually there saying that it was pretty realistic (the Normandy beach scenes). I remember making a note to watch it in particular. I told my wife at the time as well that she needed to watch it. Hell, EVERYONE needed to watch it, because that was what war was like and that if you're going to send men off to die you better understand what they will face. The reason damn well better be important.
We had a bad family that talked smack when I was in Little League. The wife was the worst. She'd insult the Ref, the opposing team, her kid's coach, and her kid's teammates. It was never he kid's failing, always someone else.
I seem to recall that we had a rule that the umpire could eject ANYONE for unsportsmanlike conduct (parents included) made sometime during my game years. I think that eventually shut her up.
It really sucked too, since she had several boys and was at the fields all day "rooting" her kids on in sucession. Ugh.
My Ex wife, could, for the most part of our marrige wear her old high school uniform. With a few modifications it was sufficiently sleazed up. Knowing she actually had been in catholic school made it even more "fun".
That may be a part of it, but the classic "catholic school girl" costume has been around a while longer I'd expect. I think that's also part of the "uniform fetishim" you talked about.
The main purpose of the IRS is to ensure that the tax laws are being followed. It's an outgrowth of the complexity of the Tax Code, the root cause of the problem. Fix the tax code and the rest will attend to itself. That's not going to happen though as the whole purpose of the Code is to provide political favors to various groups and now we're back to where we started.
Not just "any body of rules", rules to prohibit you doing what you please with your body. If I own my body, I can do anything I choose with it as long as it harms no one else. If I can't, I don't own my body 100%...i.e. someone else owns a part.
So no one else, besides me, is willing to acknowledge that this problem with the IRS goes back decades and is simply a tool for those currently in power to harrrass their opponents?
You're all outraged by this single instance but nary a word on the history of this happening all the time?
To use a familiar phrase, "It's my body and it's my choice". My body is my property, not yours or society's. If I want to sell a kidney to fund my college education or just to spend the money on hookers and coke, that's my call. I should also be able to sell my organs upon death and have those funds be part of my estate.
