On “How Republicans Can Save Trump’s Presidency

I had a longer comment that I must not have posted, but here's the summary.

The Constitution doesn't spell out any qualifications, which means the prez can nominate whoever he wants. I'd think a minimum qualification would be managerial experience at or near the level of the department the nominee is being asked to head.

I paid into this when we bought our house on the Northwest Side of Chicago. When we purchased, the neighborhood was a little iffy, but it was where we could afford to buy. We owned the house for 30 years and we were never in danger of having to make a claim. The peace of mind was well worth it.

We’re 500 years ahead of schedule.

On “The Four Stages of Post-election Cruelty

Every time I see a video online where people say "I'm sick of it." there is nothing articulated. It's always what "they" are doing.

Truly, the party of unspecified grievance.

"

Quarterfinal FB game and charity trivia tomorrow. Tonight, blissfully, nada. Sunday, church and lunch with my daughter, which is one of the highlights of my week.

"Having said that, for a “sitting VP” she’s remarkably inept, uninformed(?), and bad at this."

I've seen statements like this posted by the right, usually without explanation as you've done here, as if it's axiomatic.

Are you able to make a case with evidence that statements like this are valid?

"

That sounds more like an inference than an implication. I'm all but the last one on your list and I've never felt attacked by Dems.

"

“No, Donny, these men are nihilists, there's nothing to be afraid of.“

"

I really don't feel like this election needs a post-mortem. The latest vote totals I could find were Trump 50.2% and Harris 48.2%. The popular vote in the so-called swing states was with 2-3 percentage votes, with the biggest one being NC which probably wasn't all that swingy to begin with. The electoral college was more of a bloodbath, but that's a peculiarity of that mechanism.

The popular vote hardly indicates a national mandate.

I, of course, could be terribly wrong. To my dying day, I will never understand what on earth could lead someone to consider Donald Trump fit for the office of president.

"

Heh. Come to Chicago if you want opposing terrible choices on the ballot.

On “Series! Recap of World Series of the 2020s

The 4 above the Sox didn't play full seasons. The record stands!

(Don't steal the one bit of fun from an execrable season, sir. Let me bask in the horror.)

Those people can talk at length!

"

Probably part of the whole anti-science thing discussed above.

On “Series! Recap of World Series of the 2020s

LOL. My daughter bought tickets to what she calculated might be loss 121. They got to 120 the game before so she was all set. It was game 1 of a 3 game series against the Angels. The Sox ended up sweeping the Halos. My daughter was incredulous.

There are a bunch of Dem governors of red states. It seems to me that the party ought to be looking hard at them.

Really, DJT is such a confounding factor in American politics. Does MAGA survive him?

"

"And that relationship appears to be ongoing. On Wednesday, veteran journalist Bob Woodward revealed that he had spoken about the unusual relationship between Trump and Putin several months ago with Trump’s former Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats.

“It’s so close, it seems like it might be blackmail,” Coats said, according to Woodward.

Woodward also recounted a separate conversation he had with CIA Director Bill Burns, who reportedly emphasized that “Putin manipulates” and is “professionally trained” to do so. According to Woodward, Burns believed that Putin has “got a plan” to repeat what he did during the forty-fifth presidential administration by “playing Trump.”"

Smoke, fire, etc.

Fetterman wouldn't be the worst choice. Shapiro?

On “Series! Recap of World Series of the 2020s

It really was hard to pick a team. My partner is a rabid Yanks fan and she couldn't watch.

The better team won.

Could be worse. Could be the White Sox.

On “He Got Away With It

Alas, not. I really want to not care which party is in power in this country.

"

Remember, it’s not a cult.

"

I remember when GWB took office and he presented his legislative agenda with a comment that he had political capital to spend. DJT is making the same claim, in essence. Both guys claim a mandate with barely more than half the electorate voting for them.
