Weekend Plans Post: The No-Man’s Land Between Christmas and New Year’s Eve
Back in October, I ordered my copy of Lying Pirates and I had visions of playing it with the family as part of the post-prandial festivities. Heck, it’s a game that even the grammas can play, right? Well, of course, the game didn’t arrive until the day *AFTER* Christmas.
So, at Christmas, we played Roll Through The Ages: The Bronze Age and, holy cow, Mom kicked everybody’s butt. It was weird. She pulled the old “oh, you guys were telling me what to play…” line but, seriously, she won by more than 10 points.
The February birthday meet-up is approaching, I guess. But that’s next year.
We’re now in the “what day is it?” silver area between Christmas and New Year’s. Days in which you don’t have to go to work. Errands? Maybe if you run out of an ingredient or two… but there are *LEFTOVERS*. A beautiful mélange of Maribou, kitties, and not having to get in the car.
Well, except for tomorrow. I’ve got to go get a blood draw and there’s going to be a trip to Costco in there. Oh, jeez. And I have to go to the bank. So I guess the silver area is behind us. But we enter into the golden space that is “The Weekend” and that’s nice too. Oooh and New Year’s is Monday! It’ll be a 3-day weekend!
Good. Those are recuperative.
So, this weekend will be spent getting ready for New Year’s Eve at which point I will probably go to bed around 10 (again). Or maybe I’ll try to be hungover on Monday. Who knows.
All in all, it was a good week spent decompressing, unwinding, and… perhaps even *RELAXING*. It’ll be good to blearily hit the ground trotting on Tuesday.
So… what’s on your docket?

We had that snow day on 14 Dec which became a “work from home” day. I called in sick that Friday, which eventually became COVID, so that wrecked the following week. The week after we were shut down for the holidays.
I haven’t been to work since 13 December and it has been mostly GLORIOUS.Report
