Saturday Morning Gaming: Demon’s Tilt
The Epic Game Store has a pinball game as its free game this week: Demon’s Tilt.
Now, I’ve talked about physical pinball game before (about a decade ago) and video versions of pinball machines before (about 4 years ago). I am one of those folks who is nutso about pinball games.
Remember the moment in The Machine: Bride of Pinbot when you activated her voice?
I still blush when I hear that particular laugh.
In any case, a lot of time has passed since I was playing Bride of Pinbot in the arcade next to the bowling alley at CSU. I still love the silver ball, though. I still play FX3, though, and get my fix even though it’s been years and years since I played a table in real life.
So when I saw Demon’s Tilt, I thought “Huh… that looks like a nice table… oh, wait. $20.” I mean, say what you will about FX3’s business model, but when you buy one of the expansion packs for 10 bucks, you get 3 tables! Plus: They go on sale *ALL THE TIME*. Even now, on a random Saturday in a non-sale time of year, you can get the Williams Tables Pack 1 (containing The Getaway (High Speed 2), Junk Yard, and Medieval Madness) for 55% off and Marvel Pinball Avengers Chronicles (containing The Avengers, Thor: Fear Itself, and Infinity Gauntlet (!!!)) for 60% off.
That means that, for the price of about $8.50, you can get about 10 tables playing FX3.
So why in the heck would you drop $20 for a single table, no matter how good it was?
Well, let me say again, the Epic Game Store has Demon’s Tilt this week for *FREE*.
So of *COURSE* I picked it up.
And it’s pretty good.
Sure, it’s only one table, but it’s got three different levels to it and each level has a double buttload of things to accomplish and, of course, goals that you need to meet in the proper order to get the highest score you possibly can.
(I never spent enough time on the uppermost level to get a screenshot of it, but it’s pretty cool too.)
There is seriously a *TON* of stuff to do and multiple targets to hit and they include some bullet hell opportunities (the bullets won’t make your ball die or anything, just bounce) and hitting card markers and trying to get a particular hand and precision flipper shots and everything you could ever want from a computerized game of pinball.
Is it worth $20? Nah. I could see being disappointed if I shelled out for it. Is it worth $5? Heck yeah, it is.
Is it worth getting for free? You better believe it.
So… what are you playing?

Uh-oh. Slay the spire has a free community mod. It adds a fifth character… among other things.
Dang it.Report

“The Hermit” has a gunslinger theme.
There’s also a mode where you play a boss monster and get out of the dungeon backwards.
The end bosses for those levels? Those are the player characters.Report
