    The ability to carry a cup of liquid so that “down” — the sum of all the accelerations acting on it, starting with but not limited to gravity — is always properly aligned with the cup’s vertical axis is an acquired skill. As I recall, I learned it as a poor college student. Because spilling the alcoholic drink on the way back from the bar through the unpredictable crowd was a tragedy.Report

      I have a handful of friends who were in the navy. Going over to their houses, I noticed that they drank several cups of coffee while I was there but every single cup was half-full.

      When my bud was filling up (or, halving up, anyway) his cup a third time, I asked “why not give yourself more coffee?”
