Okay. This makes me wonder how long Friday the 13th has been considered especially unlucky.
I’m sure we’ve all heard the Knights Templar rumor and grew up with episodes of various sitcoms devoted to bad luck but, apparently, there is no record of Friday the 13th being particularly unlucky until the 1800’s… but Thomas W. Lawson wrote a book in 1907 where an unscrupulous trader caused a stock market crash using Friday the 13ths unluck as a plot point.
That’s… what? His art style in the teens at that point?Report
Lilgirl watching a video that talks about the origins of Friday the 13th. Apparently Friday and 13 were both considered unlucky:
13 people at the last supper
Norse legend, Loki crashed some big dinner as the 13th guest
Crucifiction on Friday
Friday was “Hangman’s Day”
Norse Goddess (?) Frigga plotted evil deeds for Friday
The 1907 book was the first known case of the two being put together.Report
