Closing argument:
"If you think this is not impeachable, what is?"

The most traitorous acts against the United States in my lifetime, these were.Report
And yet many of the enablers are sitting in jury of the grand master.
Gotta love our version of democracy.Report
Somebody on Twitter made the comment that this is surprisingly ‘good television’ and so probably very effective at swaying the opinion of some Fency McFencertons, and maybe even unsticking some more hard boiled partisans.
Though the other side of it is that this is super early in any sort of National election cycle – so people are simply going to forget their current feelings in a few month, never mind a year and a half. Plus, Fox is already counter programming against it.Report
There’s a well-known essay by John Steinbeck proposing that the televised Army-McCarthy hearing did Joe McCarthy in, because people could see how he looked and acted like the bullying bad guy in a Western.Report
This is a way stronger and way tighter case then last time – and the prior case was pretty clear and damning.
Too bad power has corrupted the GOP so clearly and so completely they still won’t be moved.Report
Still less blood and people shot than on that GOP softball field awhile back. Truly LGM levels of lamenting. HaReport
um no. Scalise recovered as did the other victims. Only the shooter was killed by police during the shoot out. 5 people died in the Capitol Insurrection. True only 1 was shot, but last I checked we as a nation don’t measure the effect of violence based on the number of shells ejected from a weapon.Report
Other way around. Remember the Black Panther who was accused of intimidating voters because he was carrying a billy club? Has it been an AR-15, it would have been his unquestioned 2nd Amendment right.Report
Which was less than the Charleston church shooting.Report
Which was less than 24 months of BLM mostly peaceful activity.Report
Which was less than one day in Oklahoma City.Report
Which was less than one day in Holodomor.Report
Which was far less than the Holocaust.Report
Way to move the goal posts. The Scalise shooting was a single incident. The Capitol Insurrection was a single incident. The social justice protests in 2020 is a series of events. 19 people died in those events, which given that the protests number in the hundreds means on a per incident basis they still rank way below the Insurrection, though above the Scalise shooting.
Again however, I wasn’t aware that bullet counts or body counts were the important measure.Report
It really doesn’t matter leftism has such mountains of dead corpses, there really is no justification for any of the outrage at anything. Leftism doesn’t care about mass graves.Report
Absolutely. Because we all know that Nancy Pelosi is just Stalin in a dress.Report
Well the Stalinists can’t dress up like Stalin anymore, people would recognize them. Also the failues of the soviet council last time has created soviet council 2.0 for another go at it, because the Soviet Way can never fail, it can only be failed. So here it is again laughable as ever at the constant lamenting.Report
All people who incited the GOP softball shootings should be impeached and barred from holding office, also.Report
uh-huhReport
Remember when excitable idiots used to insist that if they lost Clinton, or W, or Obama would refuse to leave the White House and either invoke martial law or bring in their mobs? And how we sensible, intelligent folks would pooh-pooh that, because this is America and that’s not how things work here?Report
That was pre “No USA at all” chant.Report
How ya doing, Joe, now that Trump lost and the Dems control Congress? Hanging in there?Report
I am not a fan of stationary bandits, so this year is not much different than the rest.Report
The House managers have made an excellent case, and used both trump’s words and video very well against him. It’s really sad that he’s STILL likely to be acquitted but on a day where NOR reports the latest AEI polling shows 4 in 10 Republicans believing in violence to preserve “America’s traditional way of life,” it is also probably true that the GOP has little other political choice if they want to remain in power – and they very much want to remain in power.Report
Haha, that’s rich. Leftist have the most violent ideology in the history of ideology, yet here the lamenting is about violence again.
‘We know what you are, we’re just haggling magazine capacities.’Report
