The wife’s “Since about the first of July…” put me off of the Crash theory. Manufacturing profits were high through the first half of 1929. There were warning signs, but the market didn’t peak until September. Then the Crash in late October.Report
Could also be just a run-of-the-mill “lost his job or got seriously demoted, doesn’t want to let on to her” and be not crash-related.Report
