The storm clouds are definitely gathering.

"

I tend to believe that what happened in early stage COVID shouldn’t be held against any employer, nor is it indicative of employee value now.

"

If they needed a SCIF or encrypted hard line to do their jobs, paying them to sit might have been cheaper.

"

How long did that last though? My navy colleagues got about 10 days off before retooled schedules and social distancing had many of them back at a desk.

"

It was never about individual performance. All about data mining.

"

The Administration has taken away that option for us. As have a number of private corporations these days.

"

Since we live in a post-truth world I guess we shouldn’t care that one of the foundations of “chain saw the federal workforce” is a lie.

We can answer that questions too Jaybird. I do every week for my manager.

Elon doesn’t have standing to ask.

"

Forcing Feds to do a bad thing just because normies are forced to do a bad thing doesn’t make it a good thing. Either your management trusts you to do the thing you were hired to do or they don’t.

"

I agree it doesn’t matter to Musk & Co.

That it doesn’t is bad.

"

OPM doesn’t have the legal authority to make that request.

That aside the FBI isn’t the only stand down ordered - DoD, State, and Treasury all told their folks not to answer.

Why you might ask? It’s just five bullet points. The private sector does it all the time. The answer lies in the who you should cc. Because if every fed answers it and ccs their supervisor, then you have a nice neat map of who works where for whom. Which something the Russians and Chinese have tried to phish out of the federal gov relent for years.

"

He also fired the woman who ran the navy, the black man who was number two at the air force and the woman who ran the coast guard. He intends pull a retired three star out and promote him to chair the chiefs.

"

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I regularly criticize my own side.

"

Indeed I did. It’s close to local politics for me. My conclusion stands.

"

I still think the most useful discussion is about where and why people didn’t vote. That being said g the largest block of voters in the election

"

There are probably a dozen people alive in the US now who can address that criticism because we don’t t teach enlightenment ideals and their relationship to the bill of rights. Is that a sad thing? For us uber-intellectuals sure but it’s not a criticism that will resonate with normies or even much of the very online. Your government will punish you for saying or writing things that criticize them is a thing normies will get. Seems to me that is thus way more important.

"

We are in the boat we are in today partly because cis-het white dudes don’t know how to share well.

"

Of this specific incident - probably not. Of using the courts to silence critics of a governing regime - absolutely .

"

An editorial calling you out as a politician for acting in bad faith isn’t hate speech.

But that’s for proving my point.

"

We keep going round and round about what censorship is and whether the private sector can do it or not. This often gets subsumed into a free speech absolutes debate. Well right here right now in Mississippi we have a GLARING example of government censorship. I look forward to the “well you have to understands”

No one is impossible to fire in the federal system. It happens routinely even if the numbers are small. Like everything g else it’s a process and as long as it’s followed it’s actually pretty effective. It just takes time and business people refuse to take time.
