I dabbled in Cultist Simulator for a bit on my tablet, probably after reading Jaybird's post about it. I never fully figured out what I was doing though. I did enjoy it, so maybe I should revisit it sometime.
My wife and I started BG3 together, which has been a fun experience. As long as it holds her interest, I think the likelihood of finishing the game in a reasonable time goes up significantly. It is much easier to justify spending most of a Saturday or Sunday playing a video game when we are doing it together. On the other hand, it also makes it much easier to ignore stuff we should be doing, because we are both sucked into the game.
We had some siding replaced and a windowsill that was rotten, so I need to do a little painting.
Tomorrow should be a board game meetup. I have missed a few, so it will be nice to get back to it. We also have to take the kitten to the vet for her next vaccination.
Still playing Baldur's Gate 1. However, my wife and I might delve into BG3 co-op in the future. She is intrigued by the game, which is all over her TikToks. In BG1 I have finished the bandit camp and am getting ready to head to the Cloakwood. I am having a better time with the game than I thought.
I always felt like evil choices in games were weird. For evil choices to make sense, they should have some selfish appeal to them, with moral reasons not to do them. However, in a lot of games, evil choices are often "be a jerk for no reason" and ultimately less rewarding, so it would make more sense for a selfish character to do the good options (for selfish motives). I am not trying to equate selfish with evil here, but trying to rationalize an intelligent evil character, not somebody who just wants to cause havoc for the sake of it. I haven't played Dishonored, but it sounds like that might be a little more like what I have wanted from evil choices.
Mostly normal weekend for me as well. We were away last weekend, which was nice.
We finally got ourselves an FDM 3D printer. Nothing too fancy or expensive, but if we use it a lot we could upgrade in the future. I could also see ourselves getting a resin printer. I have dabbled with it a little during the week, but I have a few larger projects I look forward to trying my hand at while I have more time. One of the main things I want to use it for is upgrading board games, replacing cardboard tokens with nicer looking plastic pieces and making better organizers especially. I think my wife just wants to print little figurines and paint them. Right now, I am just using existing files that I can get online, but I might try my hand at making my own when I get a better feel for things.
If anything, they were building the tension with Solo. Way out of left field.
Supposedly the Brock thing was improvised by Brock, so probably not intended as a face-turn. I don't think Brock loses if he doesn't want to (in the sense that he has a lot of control over his storylines, though I doubt anybody on the roster could pin him if he didn't want them to), so I don't think it is unreasonable to think he likes/respects Cody.
I am playing the original Baldur's Gate (well, Enhanced Edition) thanks to a Humble Bundle. It plays surprisingly well on the Steam Deck. I am not too hyped about BG3. I have tried a couple times to play Divinity Original Sin, but never really got into it. Maybe when I hear more I will change my mind.
I got my party to Nashkell last night before I got to bed. I will probably try to go back finish up some side quests and gain a level before hitting the mines, but I didn't want to waste too much time and have the Harpers start complaining about the delay (which they do, if my memory serves me).
I also finished Dave the Diver, though I am still dabbling a bit to finish up some of the quests and expand my sushi empire.
I felt like the end of the Roman/Jey match was a straight-out-of-the-Attitude-Era swerve for the sake of the swerve (and we couldn't figure out how to get out of this).
Hopefully LA Knight winning the battle royale means they are finally going to start letting him win matches (and it wasn't just Slim Jim putting their thumb on the scale).
Glad to see Cody get the win over Brock. Hopefully this will shut up the "WWE only brought him back to bury him since he didn't beat Roman" folks. It probably won't though.
Glad you enjoyed it. I have a much greater appreciation for short, tight games like Dredge. I keep reading about Baldur's Gate III and it's 100s of hours of content, and the idea just seems overwhelming. I would probably never finish it, because there would be more games coming out during the time it would take, and eventually one would catch my eye, and I would never get back.
I got to level 50 and Veteran World tier on my Diablo IV Season 1 character. Mission accomplished. Time for a break. Now I am back to playing Dave the Diver, and I do not plan to touch anything else until it's finished. It has some similarity to Dredge, though without the horror elements and you are diving instead of fishing. There is a similar charm to it. It is also a deeper game, where you keep unlocking new stuff to do as you play. You start off diving to catch fish and managing your sushi restaurant, but eventually it adds photography, a farm, and other stuff. I probably have about 5 hours left to get through it (not a completionist). Not sure what I will dive into next. Maybe try to finish Tears of the Kingdom.
Somehow, I have managed to avoid seeing any of the Mission Impossible movies. Do the early movies hold up, or would I be better off just jumping into the new ones?
More of the same, which isn't too bad for me, because I didn't burn myself out trying to get a preseason character to max level. I finished the campaign on my barbarian, got him to level 49, and decided to try something else. I rolled up a Sorcerer, got her to level 28, then decided to play some other stuff until Season 1 started.
I don't really care about cosmetics, which is one of the things I hear the most complaints about. The new mechanic is okay. You occasionally run into Malignant monster. If you kill them, you can revive them to kill them a second time, and they drop the new seasonal jewel which can only be socketed into rings and amulets. It is nothing to write home about.
It adds some new story content, which doesn't take too long to play through, where you learn about the origin of the Malignancy.
If you already burned yourself out since launch, there probably is not anything new to really bring you back. I want to get a character to the higher world tiers, so I plan to take the opportunity to do that. Future seasons will probably need a more interesting mechanic to lure me back. Besides, I am neglecting my sushi shop and the Sea People in Dave the Diver.
Roguelikes and Roguelites are popular, and they are based around dying repeatedly. Seems like a nemesis system could be a perfect fit.
I have been exploring Season 1 of Diablo IV. I finished the new story stuff, and now I am working to level up my new Necromancer. I got darn close to unlocking the Nightmare World Tier, but I could not get past the Cathedral of Light final boss. I was only level 46, though. I think I will just push through to 50 and try again.
When I was on Twitter and TikTok, I made sure to follow people that I disagreed with. I doubt all of Mulvaney's followers were fans. If he is well known enough, I am sure there were hate-followers.
I jumped onto the Dave the Diver hype train. It has a pretty simple gameplay loop, though it continues to add little things as you go through the game. Scuba dive twice per day collecting fish, other seafood, and cooking ingredients. Spend the evening running your restuarant, picking the menu from your available ingredients and helping serve the customers.
Some sea creatures are hostile, and you have to fight them. You can upgrade equipment to dive deeper and stay down longer. If you run out of oxygen, you can only bring one item back to the surface with you.
As the game progresses, you get to explore the mystery of the Sea People. You also learn more about the background of the people you are working with.
It's an easy game to pick up and play for a little bit, since it is broken into discrete chunks with the dives and running the restaurant. The restuarant management is not super complicated, though I imagine if you really want to maximize profit it could be. I am more interested in the diving aspect.
Overall a fun game that is worth the $20 price tag.
Getting a new bed delivered today, so tomorrow we will be assembling that. Tomorrow we will also move the kitten from quarantine in the bathroom across the house to isolation with interaction in the bathroom attached to the bedroom so we can begin the introduction process. Though not intentionally planned, I think putting in the new bed will help confuse the cats from a territory standpoint, which might help with the introduction. That being said, I am not sure the oldest cat will care, she is just antisocial.
We also have the usual errands and weekend chores to take care of, and hopefully that will leave us with some time to do some fun stuff as well.
I also thought the idea of unchecked hiring to be strange. Maybe it is because I have always worked in smaller, private companies, but managers were not able to add headcount willy nilly. They needed approval from somebody at the VP level at least.
I know it's not the point of the post, but if I had friends over, and they had the audacity to throw shade at my decor, I don't think I would invite them back anytime soon.
Inspired by your post from a few weeks back, we ended up adopting another cat. I looked around the local SPCA website and found one that I just had to have. We did the application a couple weeks ago, but she was on stray hold, then medical hold. Saturday we got the call to come get her. We are technically fostering to adopt, since she is not yet big enough to spay, but once she is spayed she will be ours.
Buttermilk is a grey tabby, about 6 weeks old. Her fur is going to be medium or long, we are not sure yet. Sounds like she had a rough time before she got to the shelter, and she was found in a car engine, so she got lucky.
She is in quarantine for the next week or so, then we get to start the slow introduction process. Our older cat does not seem to care for other cats too much, but we hope the cat we got last year will get along better, and they will keep each other occupied and less likely to pester our old lady.
I bought 2 games from summer sale, The Last Express and The Last Campfire (and I just now realized the parallel in the names, though they are unrelated). Spent less than 6 bucks for the pair, but I haven't started either yet.
I have mostly been playing Monster Hunter 4 Unlimited since I got back into it when we were out of power. I took a break from the High Rank single player stuff to finish up all of the Low Rank single player stuff. I am also trying to get through the Low Rank quests in the multiplayer hub, even though I am doing it all solo.
I also dip into Diablo IV a little bit here and there, but I am mostly waiting on Season 1 to start to really put more time into it.
I'm still dabbling in Diablo IV. Got my barbarian to level 49, then decided "I need to make a sorcerer," so I did. I got him up to level 20+, though I did the campaign skip, so I'm doing Whispers and sidequests mostly.
I also got back to Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I had not touched the game in a while. I hit a wall with the Pink Rathian, and I could not beat it. Wow power was out, I drained the batteries on my Steam Deck and my Switch, so I decided to give it another try. I have a lot more experience at Monster Hunter games now. My first couple fights I lost, but I managed to get through it on the third try, opening up some more progress.
Also, your post the other day (sorry for you loss) got me checking out the local SPCA, and we will be getting a third cat soon.
Last Saturday night, most of Tulsa lost power in a thunderstorm with 100+ MPH winds. We got ours back on Wednesday evening. We got the text from the power company letting us know right before we got to the gas station to get gas for our new generator.
This weekend will involve refilling the refrigerator, catching up on chores that couldn't be done without power, and getting the yard cleaned back up. I also plan to return the 1-gallon gas cans I got because they were out of the larger ones.
Other than that, I plan to enjoy having lights and air conditioning without stressing out about whether my phone battery is nearly dead.
You can use a controller, which I find to be a lot easier on the wrists.
My battletag is Wonderloss1#1257 in case anybody would like to meet up in game.
I have finished Act I, and I am over halfway through Act II. I do convenient sidequests, but I do not go out of my way for them. I have done a few of the dungeons that grant account-wide bonuses that are relevant to my barbarian and I try to keep an eye out for Altar's of Lilith.
I suspect feeling overpowered will have a lot to do with gear/build instead of level.
